Just play the game

The NFL has turned a damn football game into some form of tawdry decadence.

There were 4 'Super Bowls' I, II, II, and IV. Two separate leagues where the champs of each league met in the last game. Since the merger, it is merely a league championship.

Play it at 1 PM. 15 minute halftime just like the regular season.

The Super Bowl is mostly about the game, but is also about all the stuff that goes with it. Hell, there were plenty of years that the commercials were the best part.

Tawdry decadence? lol

It has become too commercial, expensive and way too gaudy and maudlin. It is more like the Oscars than a football game. The real fans from each city should get to see it live instead of all the 'celebs' and opulent.

NFL football is becoming a corporate game. We see more and more 'private' boxes at stadiums and less seats for the average fan.

It is a reflection of how our society has changed. America is becoming more of a plutocracy than a democracy. But hey, there is always the NFL draping itself in the flag to appeal to the suckers.

I can't believe a game with four quarters of 15 minutes and 12 minutes at half time actually runs the best part of four hours. Is it true that play stops whenever there is a commercial break?

Yes...there is no play without the cameras on.

The Super Bowl is longer than a regular season game because of all the commercials and long halftime hoopla. It destroys the pace of the game.

So the owners should turn down big money in order to provide cheaper seating for local fans?? lmao Yeah, thats a great idea.

Look, the fans are being gouged and I know this. But if they don't want to(or can't) pay the high prices, let'em sit and watch the game on tv.

But blaming the NFL for the popularity of the game is nuts.

That is not new. Any televised game has "tv timeouts". One of the games UA had with a minor team ran 3.5 hours last season. This is not specifically about the Super Bowl. Its football in general.

The only part of your post that reveals the truth about you.

Yep, that reveals the truth about me. The truth is that I think we should not cut an owner's profit in half (or more) to help satisfy some vague sense of fairness.

Give me a good reason why the franchise (or the NFL) should charge less for tickets??

What are the chances of you going in and telling your boss that you would be happy to work for less money?

Your answer...let them eat cake

Fuck you...

Awww, are you still mad about me calling you BFoon?

Look, I am saying no such thing. I am laughing at your "but it costs too much for the regular guys" whining.

The NFL is a money making operation. This game makes more then any other game. And you want them to give away their profits so the "regular guys" can go to the game.

Why should they? Lets skip the "you are evil" sidestepping, and actually give me a good reason why a business should cut their profits by half (or more) just to satisfy your sense of fairness??

I fail to understand how anybody watching can be happy that a game that only lasts for 60 minutes, ends up being between 3-4 hours long.

The only one 'sidestepping is you. At least have the spine to stand up for your beliefs. Gouging is the American way...YOU support it.

I support loyalty. The fans that buy season tickets when the team is 2-14.

Would you please remember to collocate the word 'football' with the word 'American'. Football lasts for 90 minutes plus 15 minutes half time and plus 'injury' time.
The game you play seems to involve all four limbs, extremities, tight trousers and armour, whereas 'foot'ball is played, almost exclusively, with the feet. (that is the plural of foot, for those still confused). Your game is one of the few sports without international support or, indeed, recognition. I doubt that it has ever even been considered as an Olympic sport although it is fair to say that it does seem the perfect sport for those looking for an alternative gay icon to Putin.
Perhaps we could start a trend to call it Usball or fashion ball or funny clothes ball.... no that's getting silly.

If they allow beach volleyball and synchronised swimming then don't be so sure that gridiron football won't be accepted. It was played as a demonstration sport at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics.

I think the major problems against its acceptance are the lack of competition from other countries especially in Africa and no real women's game. Don't be surprised if those objections are overcome in the future though.
