I noticed how the soldiers were marching, did anyone else? I didn’t hear any cadence. Silent protest?
You're right. There was no military precision or martial enthusiasm in Trump's birthday parade.
Even the French have a better and more enthusiastic military parade.
We aren't North Korea or the Red Army. To their credit, our military has no tradition of the pomp and circumstance of militaristic parades. They are trained to be all about the mission.
For all their scheming and conniving MaraLago should have known a straight military parade in mid June was never going sell especially one framed for TV.
We all have been to at least one Veterans Day parade and know that soldiers continuously marching by is entertained for about fifteen minutes. And adding the in the real motive behind’s the parade, Trump celebrating Trump, it was a doomed from the jump
For a guy that dodged the Vietnam draft because of bone spurs, Trump probably fantasized that the parade would look like the Red Army in Red Square or the annual North Korean military parade. In other words, highly choreographed theater and characterized by a martial ethos and military precision.
The North Koreans and Red Army practice their choreography and militaristic precision for months.
Our Army doesn't train for choreographed militaristic parades, like what we see in Red Square or Pyongyang. US Army are trained for missions.
The problem was it was for the Army's birthday. While both may land on the same date, it really is not appealing for the left to ignore the service members like that. Just saying, it makes the left look petty and weak to dismiss 250 years of service and pretend it was about Trump.It wasn't even as impressive, well organized, or enthusiastic as France's Bastille Day parade, which happens every year.
To their credit, I don't think the US Army was that enthusiastic about marching in a parade for the benefit of a president's birthday.
Anyway, if I were him I would have done this on Next Year's 4th of July Parade... 250 years of United States, have overflights, basically an air show above the parade... folks from all six of the services, as well as local inclusion, the whole parade shouldn't be military, they should just be among the participants... spend some time creating a truly awesome 250th Independence Day.
The parade was for Trump's birthday, not the Continental Army's 250th anniversary.
250 years is not even a widely accepted noteworthy benchmark. That's why we don't have a word for it, like we have the word 'centennial' for 100th anniversary or bicentennial for 200th anniversary.
It's obvious Trump's minions sat around a table trying to think of ideas for a military parade for Trump, and they landed on the idea of hanging their hats on the unusual benchmark of 250 years for the Continental Army.

The Army and the last Administration had plans for celebratory festivities, but no parade, military parades aren’t part of the nation’s character, the only time we have them is at the end of war or campaign, as the end of the Gulf War in ‘91
Hard to believe that if given the choice on how to spend $56 million dollars the Army would have decided on a parade

Interesting given the last military parade thru DC was thirty five years ago at the conclusion of the Persian Gulf War, so if it is money so well spent why hasn’t there been such a parade since then? There was no parade in 1975 when the Army had it’s 200 anniversary

250 is a pretty special birthday...wait for America's 250th!!

Deserves recognition and thanks, yes, but a parade is a poor way to do it, as I said, there was no parade on its 200th birthday, military parades aren’t in the nation’s character, the money would have been better spent and appreciated using it for a birthday bonus to servicing soldiers
Next July 4th will be celebrating, it’s all of our’s celebration, but rest assured, Trump will do his best to make it all about Trump
And you got to be kidding, did you think anyone of note in the Army was going to challenge Trump? He didn’t clean out the upper echelon of military leaders for no reason

Apparently not everyone agrees with you...I thought it was awesome--even spectacular....it was patriotic and inspirational...and a lesson in history.....Everyone who was interviewed was so happy and proud...I just may watch it again...for the third time...
