Judge to Block Troops From Entering Chicago

"The Trump administration’s attempts to justify a military presence were “simply unreliable,” the judge said. A federal appeals court is weighing a similar case regarding National Guard troops in Portland, Ore.

Judge Perry said she had concerns about some of the information submitted by federal officials in the Chicago case, citing other recent cases where the Department of Homeland Security’s actions or versions of events had been called into question. She said there was growing evidence that “DHS’s perceptions of events are simply unreliable.”


The written order has not yet been issued.
