A Utah juvenile court judge has ordered a baby taken away from a lesbian couple and placed with a heterosexual couple "for the child's well-being".

Judge Johansen cited research that "children do better when they are raised by heterosexual couples".

Gov. Gary Herbert told reporters that he is puzzled by Judge Scott Johansen's ruling, which child welfare officials said they are reviewing for a possible challenge.
"He may not like the law, but he should follow the law. We don't want to have activism on the bench in any way, shape or form," the governor said.
Herbert added that the judge should not "inject his own personal beliefs and feelings in superseding the law."

A Utah judge on Friday reversed, at least temporarily, his order that a foster child be taken away from a lesbian couple because of their sexual orientation, but he continued to question the placement of children with same-sex parents.

A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 4 to determine what is in the best interests of the child, who has lived since August with Ms. Hoagland, Ms. Peirce and Ms. Peirce’s two biological children.

Court papers show that the baby girl is not a candidate for reunification with her biological parents. They say that she was abused, that her father is incarcerated and that her birth mother has relinquished all rights to her.

This is horrible! Poor little baby being taken away from the couple who love her just because of who they love, that's evil.
