may 23 2023 IONIA, Mich. (AP) — A western Michigan man who pleaded no contest to shooting an 84-year-old woman campaigning against abortion rights at his home was sentenced to community service Tuesday.

Richard Harvey, 75, was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service. Judge Suzanne Hoseth Kreeger also gave him a suspended jail sentence of two months and a delayed sentence of one year on probation.

Harvey pleaded no contest last month to felonious assault, careless discharge of a firearm causing injury and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Jacobson told investigators that she was asking a woman at the home to vote against a proposed constitutional amendment that would guarantee the right to abortion in the state when she was told to leave. The amendment later passed.

Harvey has said the shooting was accidental, but Jacobson has maintained she believes it was intentional after she had argued with Harvey's wife, Sharon Harvey..

Seems reasonable to me.

Back in the 1960s, a high school friend of mine shot somebody five times, didn't hit a single vital organ, and got six years probation plus mandated counseling.

The irony is that the man that he shot did end up being murdered, only it happened in prison.
Whatever he did to get there must have been worse than putting five bullets in someone!!! :laugh:

I guess it never occurred to you in that pea sized brain of yours that maybe being shot 5 times and watching the murderous fucker you called a friend only get probation sent his victim over the edge and in to death?

but you're a leftist hate filled racist and probably don't give that guy a seconds thought, but I bet you're glad as hell that your friend didn't go to prison, right?

Well, STY, I said he was a high school friend. High school was sixty years ago.

Also, most people who knew the miscreants involved would indeed find the entire situation to be hysterically funny.

I'm chuckling just thinking about it.
 
Why, TDAK, can't you just be grateful
