With all due respect sir why don't you tell us about the scare tactics you use when it comes to individuals haveing .07% control over their government retirement or more control over their healthcare. Tell us again how if we have personal power we will fail while the government will serve us.
Scare tactics are not necessary. All that's required is a quick read about life before Social Security. There was a lot of personal power floating around then. Elderly folks had the choice of starving to death or freezing to death or being mugged and beaten to death due to a lack of food and shelter and Social Security took all those choices away.
The same as medical. People have a choice between medical attention or having food for dinner. Seniors having the free will/choice between buying medication or having supper.
There's a reason for SS just as there's a reason for a government medical plan. These ideas were not pulled out of the air. Almost every industrialized country has SS and medical and they have had them for years and years because the same thing happened in every one of those countries. And not one country has reverted to the old, tired, tried and failed ways.
As Obama unequivocally stated in yesterday's speech, "To those who may still run for office planning to privatize Social Security, let me be clear: as long as I'm President, I'll fight every effort to take the retirement savings of a generation of Americans and hand it over to Wall Street. Not on my watch."
I must admit it's about time Obama started to get tough.
Also, his plan to improve infrastructure is superb. What better time to hire the people the government needs than when unemployment is high? When the average person requires some work done, be it a room addition or a new walkway or having their house painted, when is the best time to hire a contractor? The best time is when there's an abundance of contractors. One has a large selection to choose from and get a competitive price.
It's just good sense all around.

(You know I had to add this.)
