‘It’s Not Fair’: Florida Vocal Coach Turned Capitol Rioter Gets 6 Years

The woman, Audrey Ann Southard-Rumsey, 54, appeared to deliver her rambling 15-minute diatribe off the cuff, according to CBS News.

She had been found guilty on seven felony charges, including three counts of assaulting or resisting law enforcement and three counts of civil disorder.

Mehta reportedly called her a “one-person wrecking crew.” The judge added an optional terrorism enhancement to meet prosecutors’ requested sentence of 72 months, despite generally handing out sentences to Jan. 6 defendants that are shorter than recommended by the government.


The Spring Hill, Florida, resident worked as a vocal coach until her arrest in June 2021.

Prosecutors say she used a flagpole to push against law enforcement trying to defend the Capitol, causing one officer to hit his head on the base of a marble statue.

Southard-Rumsey was also captured on video yelling at Capitol Police, “Tell Pelosi we are coming for that bitch,” referring to the then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

“There’s a hundred thousand of us! What’s it going to be?” Southard-Rumsey was heard saying on the video.

She wants to talk about what is "not fair," is that she tried to silence the voices of those who constitute a majority of those who voted against Donald Trump, and she did so by injuring a person who was doing his job of "to serve and protect." No sympathy whatsoever who bought into Trump's claims of a "stolen election," and were willing to interfere with the certification of the Electoral College process. Trump lied to them, and they believed his lies. Now she can sing in federal prison :)

People should be held accountable anytime they post threatening messages like that...including here...right?
 
People who are ideologically committed to a revolution and its cause, in a sincere manner,
feel justified in what they do.

I think that we all understand that.

One would expect, however,
that they had considered the consequences of losing.

At one time, it would have been a rope, not six years in a safe and clean federal prison.
They're not like the horrific state pens.

She's a violent nutjob. Six years is a good sentence for such people. According to the Rittenhouse rule, the flagpole was a deadly weapon so the police could have shot her dead. Next, that's exactly what will happen. She's lucky to be alive.

At some point during her interaction with the police sergeant, Southard-Rumsey obtained a flagpole, which she held in her hands and pressed against the sergeant’s chest. Southard-Rumsey then started pushing the sergeant, causing him to fall backward into the first set of doors leading to the House floor. As a result, the doors flew open, and the sergeant struck the back of his head on the base of a marble Lafayette statue. At the door to the House Chamber, Southard-Rumsey yelled, “we’re coming for you!”

Southard-Rumsey was removed from the area near the House Chamber by officers and made her way to the Rotunda. She joined a group of individuals who, seeking access to the House Speaker’s office, pushed a group of police officers down a set of stairs. She then returned to the Rotunda, where officers attempted to clear the area of unauthorized individuals. Southard-Rumsey then grabbed two officers’ batons and then grasped a metal stanchion with both hands, threatening the officers nearby.
