It's a Good Idea Even If It Came From Barney Frank

Cool, thanks. I tend to think of projecting power, from the Navy's field, only in terms of its nuclear subs, and less in conventional terms such as battleships. But it is important to protect trade the world over, and not just in the vicinity of Eastern Africa.
Subs are actually rather useless at projecting power, namely because their primary objective is to be, well, not seen. And if your enemy cannot see you, he can't fear you. As for battleships, those really no longer exist in any navy. They went out during ww2. We currently have two still commissioned, but they're not active.

Don, we need to be able to project naval power all over the world. Like I mentioned previously, 313 is a pretty small number after you break it down. Especially since our cold war fleet was sitting right around 1,000.

There is no foreign enemy to worry about.

Of course....how could I even say such a thing :palm:The enemy is mostly in Washington DC as of 2009....OK, you win, now return your head to your anus and reinsert before you actually see whats going on in the world around you.....
