It was premeditated murder

How, you ask?

Simple: He put on latex gloves.

Not for COVID, obviously, because he wasn't wearing a mask and was not socially distancing.

Now, why would the simple act of putting on latex gloves be considered premeditation of murder? Because he put them on so there would be no gunshot residue on his hands so he can deny he was the one who pulled the trigger.

He intended to kill people in an neighboring state. His mother gave him the gun and literally drove him up there to do so. Then she harbored him when he became a fugitive after fleeing the scene.

compelling argument. It will be interesting to see what his defense team says is the reason, as opposed to the obvious one you relate.

Ponder.... Premise: I don't intend to kill someone, but if I foresee that it is possible that it could happen, and I so I take this
preventive measure to avoid creating evidence. Does that Ipso facto raise a murder 2 to a 1 for the exact same conduct and state of mind at the scene?

Food for thought.

Put it this way, the weapon can't prove the level of intent alone, right? But it can be revealing.
Is every silencer proof of murder one? I'm just trying to imagine scenarios when it is and is not.

The defense team is going to have a very difficult time explaining the video of him shooting someone in the back when there was no one within 20 feet of him. Aimed and shot. It's damning.

I use a silencer not to avoid detection, just as a courtesy to my neighbors?

Wearing gloves seems to indicate a consciousness of a person who does not want to get splatter on his arms.
Were others wearing these gloves? Is it a gun thing? I'm thinking forensics can tell when a gun has been fired
whether or not I am wearing gloves until it is cleaned. So if he has gloves on, it captures all the residue
he is still carrying this weapon that is evidence tying the owner to a shooting. So does he also intend to dump
the expensive AK and frame him dad?

I'm gun ignorant. I can't put myself in the mind of a boy killer without help.

OK. Well there is that. I have to confess my wife described the crime and said there is video of the whole sordid murder.
Frankly I'm too numb to watch. I'm just disgusted at this point. I can't watch more horrifying acts by humans. Just done ...
I can still talk, but I can't watch that.

Most news programs have stopped at the point he fires. But what happened before and after is revealing. He had already shot someone in the head when the video starts. He's being chased down BECAUSE he had just shot someone. After the shooting he makes a phone call and then walks toward a bunch of police vehicles with his rifle still slung over his shoulder and his hands in the air. There's a guy shouting that he'd just shot some people, but the cops literally drive right by him, one of them even appears to say something to him and then continues on. It's just remarkable stuff.
