Is it my imagination or is it real?

I feel as if when I go into predominantly black areas of town, the people, the African American people, are much nicer to me these days. Is it a result of Obama having been elected or is it my prejudice imagination?

Not that black people as a whole were ever mean to me, but I had in the past often felt like many of them would tolerate my presence but not go out of there way to be friendly... Now I feel as if when I am amungst them, many black people are going out of there way to be friendly and good to me.

Anyone have any thoughts?

A black dude pulled up next to me yesterday shouting happy new year. I gave him a peace sign, then he shouted something like, "Obama!" It was a bit unusual. I imagine the community is still riding pretty high, and they should be.

LOL yeah, right. That sounds made up.

I have noticed that the black people I encounter in my area (vegas should get some credit because it has a very mixed population) seem to have a little wieght taken off their shoulders. I see it more as a realization of Hope issue. I sense like it comes from a feeling of realization that more whites are less prejudice than they realized. After Katrina I had my hopes dashed about racism in this country. The crap I heard coming out of some peoples mouths about the victims made me think I would never see a black president in my lifetime. When he won Iowa I was blown away. I realized I had underestimated my fellow Americans. I think they may be feeling the exact same thing I am feeling. Yes we did!

you guys are idiots.

LOL. My friend Denise says that white people have been coming up to her ever since the election and asking her, you know basically, like "how bout them yankees", only "how bout that bama".

It's part of the liberal elite cloyingness that can really make you cringe. But what are you going to do. They mean well. If only the whole world meant as well, we might have many more annoying people in it, and funny stories, but we'd have far less grief.

One of my nieghbors from my old hood imparted this story to me. Hes an noticeabley gay man who is 6'2' and a pretty big guy in his middle age. He went to the dollar store with his Obama button on before the election. The cashier was a black woman a few years younger than him. She noticed his button and happily proclaimed that "Now you are my brother" he just told her "I have always been and you just never noticed". A couple of months later Prop 8 passed and Obama was elected.

Yes I noticed it too. When I go over to Compton to buy crack & weed from the black drug dealers they seem so much more friendlier.

/sarcasm

Thats not because of Obama. That is because their business is good in spite of the economy.

yes it seems that the neighboorhood black man here isnt play b-ball as much and play rap with his "brothers" but he shouldn't get his hopes high about obama because he is just a pawn.

I usually get my ass whipped when I go into a black neighborhood.
Those girls seems to have a strange sense of humor.
And they will not lert me come back for a week.
