Is Beck the biggest hypocrite ever?

I hadn't heard this yet. In general I avoid Beck's ilk, but in my daily news reading I stumbled upon this. He mocks the Norwegians for having political camps for teenagers, but his organization hosts their own political camps for children in 1st-5th grades? Food for thought

Beck: Norway camp smacks of 'Hitler Youth'

(CNN) -- In the wake of last week's massacre in Norway, U.S. conservative commentator Glenn Beck on Monday compared the summer camp where most of the 76 victims died to the Hitler Youth organization of Nazi Germany.
Beck, on his radio show, declared the killings "the work of a madman" and called the suspect "as bad as Osama bin Laden." But before launching into that condemnation, he questioned what the victims were doing at a summer camp run by Norway's ruling Labour Party.
Beck said the camp "sounds a little like, you know, the Hitler Youth or whatever. Who does a camp for kids that's all about politics? Disturbing."
However, politically-oriented camps are being organized in several U.S. states by chapters of the "9/12 Project" -- an organization founded by Beck himself in 2009.
The Colorado 9/12 Project hosted a "Patriot Camp" for kids in grades 1-5 earlier this month, featuring programs on "our Constitution, the Founding Fathers, and the values and principles that are the cornerstones of our nation."
And in August, the Danville, Kentucky, chapter is holding a "Vacation Liberty School" that organizers pledge "will help your children understand where we came from. Understand where we went wrong. Understand where the fork in the road was, and which path we should have taken."

The suspect in Friday's Norwegian massacre is a right-wing Norwegian who police say wanted to halt what he believed as the Islamic "colonization" of the country. But while condemning the attacks, Beck said he predicted last fall that Europe "is going to go into problems with radical Islam" and cited Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders as saying "Political correctness and multiculturalism is killing Europe, and he's right."
Attempts to contact Beck's representatives were unsuccessful Monday night. Beck recently left his hour-long show on Fox News Channel, but his radio program is still heard on 400-plus stations and he recently launched a web television venture, GBTV.
Before joining Fox, Beck hosted a show on CNN's sister network HLN.

No this issue is not worthy of the biggest hypocrite ever. You could write volumes of books about politicians and hypocricy. That aside I do see why Beck is being questioned here. I agree with him in the sense I found it weird too that political parties in Norway hold children camps. Can you imagine sending your kid to a Republican or Democratic Party camp? I couldn't. Beck's camp is more about the principle of certain issues, not a political party. But while they are different yes I get why people would call Beck out.

How are these two camps political? Is there a political party in America that is against patriotism, the Constitution, the Founders and their core values, liberty, and learning how America has changed?

It would only be truly hypocritical if a liberal had said it after another liberal had slaughtered conservative children at a conservative camp.

There is no clear definition of any of those. Do you think Democrats and Republicans have the same view of patriotism? Even the Supreme Court is split on views of the Constitution. Which views do you think these camps are teaching? Additionally, one of the camps teaches where America went wrong... which would be where? I bet the answer for that question is deeply political. Also, as I have seen on this board, many people don't agree on the purpose of the founding fathers. Personally I think the founding fathers supported freedom, while others feel that they supported Christian principles, and others think that they would have wanted the government to provide for its people.

These are political camps espousing views that their founder supports and probably excluding ones that don't agree with him.

Additionally, all I know about the Norwegian camps is that they were supposedly political, but I have no idea what they did there. Maybe they were terrible places that indoctrinated children, but I highly doubt that. I'm willing to bet they were something very similar to teaching principles that their founder felt were important to pass on to the next generation.

Utøya
was full of unarmed teenagers, a perfect 'target-rich environment' for a cowardly conservative killer.

Actually, there is. It's called plain language definitions. Check it out in Webster.

Actually, there is. It's called plain language definitions. Check it out in Webster.

Here it is: Patriot - noun - one who supports his or her country and supports its interests and authority

Does that make all the Obama haters unpatriotic because they do not respect his authority? Does that make the Tea Party unpatriotic refusing to raise the debt ceiling? People on this board would argue both ways. I only used those because I knew you would object to them. Am I more of a patriot than you because I serve my country in a time of war?

As for the Constitution: Is Judicial Review constitutional? Does freedom of religion mean just of Christian religions? Are undeclared wars, such as the ones in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Vietnam, legitimate as long as the Congress funds them or are they unconstitutional uses of military might by the Commander-in-Chief? Again, all issues that could be debated. Your beliefs might or might not agree with other peoples.

The Founders and their core values are also not in Websters. Did the founding fathers support or oppose the principle spoken of above? Which of the founders were not Christians? Were the founding fathers patriots or traitors? Per the definition you told me to look up, I don't think patriot fits as a descriptor. However, I think most Americans see them as such.

Liberty: noun - the quality or state of being free. Is liberty for the majority still considered liberty? The founders permitted slavery. America was segregated until the 60's. All the while America was considered free. Is that the definition of liberty?

As for learning how America has changed: Did the entitlements and social programs set into motion by FDR save the country or slow its recovery? I could keep going, but hopefully you get the point by now.

So much for your plain language definitions...

Is Beck the biggest hypocrite ever?

Not the biggest hypocrite ever, not by along shot.....Obama alone has him beaten badly just with the things he said about the debt ceiling and wildass spending during the campaign, and so do several other prominent Democrats....
But Beck is a hypocrite nonetheless....I'll let him have 8th place.....

HE can't have a "Patriot Camp" for kids and then complain about the Norwegians for having political camps for teenagers.....plainly, thats hypocritical.....

The 8th biggest hypocrite in the world out of 6+ billion people. That's pretty bad. I give you credit for marking him up that high...

Funny to watch the moonbats. Scared to death of Beck, Bachmann, Palin, Hannity, O'Reilly, etc, etc. BOOO

So much for your plain language definitions...

1. The definition says the authority of the country not the current president. Some folks consider raising the debt ceiling would be detrimental to the country.
2. Read the Constitution for answers. It's plain language as well.
3. Read the Federalist Papers for answers; also plain language.
4. The founders, as a consensus, tolerated slavery in order to get the states united. They made provisions to limit it and eventually eliminate it.
5. America was changed fundamentally when the branches started ignoring the Constitution. Is it partisan to ignore the Constitution?

1. So the President doesn't wield the authority of that office of the US? The President, whoever it is, is the embodiment of that authority. So I am more of a patriot than you because I am a soldier?
2. Read it. Swore an oath to it. Don't evade the question. There is nothing wrong with admitting that you don't know or that it is a complicated question, because thats kinda what I was going for. The Constitution does not address many of those issues, hence my point.
3. Read some of them. They were written by 3 men. Only 3 men are founding fathers? They speak for all founding fathers. Also, which one should I read, to answer my questions. Do you know? Again, stop evading.
4. The founding fathers made no provisions to eliminate slavery. Thats why the Civil War happened. There was no way to legally force the abolition of slavery. The founders had nothing to do with it.
5. Who ignores the Constitution? To my understanding the checks and balances system works perfectly well as it is today and this is how they intended it. The founders knew that legislation on topics not covered by the Constitution would come up and they allowed for it. They also know they couldn't foresee what America would do in the future and didn't try to force it.

Stop pretending you know what you are talking about or answer the questions or admit that they are divisive political questions in which many people disagree. That is the point. These camps are not history camps, they are political camps for children sponsored by Glenn Beck.

1. Not by himself, no, unless you are on active duty.
2. Actually it does. You may have read it but apparently you don't understand it.
3. Read all of them, it's not hard. They'll teach you what the writers of the Constitution were thinking at the time, and what all the Founders agreed to.
4. Sure they did, set it up to end in 1808: "The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person."
5. Wilson was the first President to intentionally ignore it. FDR greatly accelerated the trend.
6. You don't know that. Have you ever been to one of these camps?

So what are the Daughters of the American Revolution then, it wasn't until 1977 that they allowed the first black member.

Not scared, horrified that anyone could take them seriously. As a political threat, there is none whatsoever.

Some people think wrestling on TV is real. Those people don't horrify me. I don't really think about them. You seem to be really frightened. BOO.

Membership in DAR is open to all women who can prove lineal bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving United States independence, irrespective of race or religion.

Whats your point ? Maybe no African Americans applied before that....

Maybe proof of bloodline descent was lacking ?

Maybe lots of things....

Can you prove your implication....
