It looks as though an amendment to the current Defense Authorization Bill before the Senate adds the Chief of the National Guard Bureau (NGB) to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). Although this article doesn't mention it, an e-mail I received says this amendment will also mandate that the Army and Air Force chiefs us US Northern Command will be Guard. Very cool stuff. I see that the numerous National Guard associations are really working overtime.
