It was the current president who made the threat, and, a year later, Sen. Chuck Schumer made a blanket threat to filibuster nominees. Since about the time, there hasn't been a Republican in the executive branch for Democrats to filibuster.

If you're the Senate Minority Leader heading into the final year of a presidential administration, and you haven't spent time planning for contingencies such as a SCOTUS vacancy, then you probably shouldn't be a leader.

The problem is you thinking that the date should include one when no appoint was that Democrats would filibuster or that wasn't a Liberal appointed by Obama.
