Republicans in OH, MI, PA and VA (all controlled by the GOP at the state level) are all apparently considering changing the electoral system from a winner-take-all to awarding each candidate by congressional district.

Naturally, their rationale is that they're trying to give smaller communities "more of a voice" in those states.
 
they are trying to make it clear to the American people that they hate democracy.

I hope the people will listen to them

Don't a couple of states already apportion their electoral votes based on geographics?

I know CO does. There may be one other.

But this is pathetic. I'd love to hear any truthful reasoning for this that doesn't start with "we're outnumbered and we don't like losing..."

If every district was drawn as a square or rectangle and not these rigged safe districts, then I would actually prefer this for every state. But as long as we allow these safe seats, we are simply going to get more and more polarized.

Maine and Nebraska are the only two that do so. All others are a winner take all. CO does not have a split.

I thought Nebraska and maybe Maine as well?

I believe we should stick with all or nothing electoral college like we have it now. If Republicans change the system to benefit themselves today well they could easily be on the losing side of such change in the future so...

Nope you are correct and it will most likely backfire. Politicians of both stripes try to game the system. Nothing new

Damn, you're right. I was looking at two other posts we made in this thread.

However, even with that four minute differential I didn't see your post. Not sure what the odds are that you would be so lucky at to guess the two correct states but congratulations to you and I'd hurry up and buy a lottery ticket for tonight.
