I believe that the theory is...a flattening of the curve, not a sharp "V" time interval.

It's all theory so far.

But it turned out the curves they’re trying to flatten bore no semblance to reality lol.

We were never going to lose 2 million or even 200 hundred thousand with or without mitigation. I’m not saying SD doesn’t work. I just don’t understand why the numbers aren’t dropping off precipitously—if it does work.

Probably because more test results are coming in. Don't the initial tests take about 5 days to get the results? Those results don't say how many have recovered or have lighter symptoms either.

Time will tell.

The hysteria drummed up by the left for political reasons is real. "Never let a crisis go to waste" is what we are seeing.

I saw a news article on the Google News page about the clean air and water in big cities now that we are basically shut down...that's more global warming crap though. We can't shut down forever.

And it does take a minute for test results. Problem is, if a ‘lack of drop’ can be explained away then how do we know whether SD has been effective or not? IOW, by what metric do we gauge the effectiveness of SD if the numbers don’t drop precipitously after the peak?

There’s also a growing criticism that all we accomplished with this is putting ourselves on the scenic route to herd immunity.

We won't be shutdown forever. When things open back up, and they will, the recovery will be slow until businesses can see what impact this shutdown will have. We Americans are a resilient bunch, we'll be fine.

My esposa is a good judge of character (she did marry me) and she does not trust Dr. Fauci.

The plants and structures and workers are still here. I hope the recovery is swift but if not, as you say, we will be fine. We are Americans.

That, is going to be interesting.

We’ve never come out of a self-imposed Depression before. That’s what this is. I’m actually pretty optimistic about a V-recovery if restrictions can be eased in May. There is already talk of it. The economy is like a caged animal that wants to spring out of the cage. Lots of people have extra money because all they have been doing for nearly a month is buy groceries and and toilet paper.

Though there’s also a big human factor. People will have to get used to the idea that they won’t die if they go sit down in a restaurant lol. Strange as that sounds. But once a few weeks go by and nothing much happens—I think it’s off to the races in the bulk of the country.

This virus has spread across our whole country now. Without researching, The GF said (she works at a hospital) that the initial (first) tests took about 5 days to come back. I would assume now that they can pinpoint what they are looking for, test results can be returned much quicker.
It is difficult to determine if SD has been effective since there are no absolutes to base results on. I guess we'll just have to hope it does have an adverse effect on the China virus's spread. I don't think we can statistically show one way or another.

I'd say that criticism is incorrect. We aren't on a "scenic route to herd immunity (whatever that is)." When this all blows over, we'll all get back together with friends, families and go out again...because we can.
