I Guess It Should Have Been Operation "George"

I never get this stuff. They could have used codename Onceler, and I wouldn't care, as long as they got him...

onceler is not your real name...when i first heard the name i thought the same thing...why would they link geronimo or any other person alive or dead (besides hitler etc) to one of the world's most vilified figures?

they have a point

Wasn't it just a few years back a member of CBC asked why black names weren't used as hurricane names? This is just me but if my name were used in an operation to kill the most wanted man on the planet I would be pretty damn proud.

Geronimo is a name often used in military operation, and in the alphabet, why are they complaining now?

because it's in keeping with America's racist tradition, so much so we don't see the problem till the agrieved injun speaks up.

Geronimo was a warrior, known for his escape tactics and out smarting the US military, why would they be offended over this? Geronimo was the cry used by paratroopers in WWII, when they jumped! An American Indian could have started the tradition for all we know?

When I saw the story, I predicted outrage over the call sign. Looks like have have my fellow mankind down pretty well. :D

Personally, I would have gone with something demeaning for the Big O's call sign, such as Shemale, Felcher, Mott, Herpes, etc.

Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-Ray, Yankee, Zulu...

Geronimo is not used in the alphabet. Although it is very often used as a code word. Seriously, it's just a code word there is nothing meant by it, other than not letting anybody listening in hear you saying, "That Osama Guy" and tipping them off...

code words are generated by computer to prevent them being associated with the actual project

BTW - Targets of missions are not assigned names they are assigned just words. In this case Osama's code word was "Jackpot". It was only the mission that was named Geronimo. They do this so that this very situation doesn't happen. People getting excited about code words is nonsense.

I know, thanks for the correction, Bud informed me later my alphabet was wrong!
