Some longtime residents are happy to see new energy injected into the neighborhood. But others have been wary of newcomers—in part, because of their race.

I live outside Detroit, in Dearborn My town is 40 percent Arab. i have a neighbor family from Iraq. the other side is a black family. Next door to them people from Yugoslavia. I just cannot work up any hate and distrust. They are all pretty nice people. The Iraqis don't cut their grass often enough.The father was a poet in Iraq and jailed by sadaam. The kids are all in college or graduated I am not worried about safety at all..

I remember having to quickly move my Grandmother out of the house my Grandfather built in Los Angeles .

When the blacks started moving in and they beat up and robbed her elderly best friend around the corner .

It's now riot central .....
