How far do we go to defend Ukraine?

My wife’s very Pro Trump family is starting to criticize Biden for not doing enough to defend Ukraine. These are people who just a few months ago were defending Putin….

So, while I am starting to see a trend of Republicans starting to complain about Biden not doing enough, I’m interested… should we be doing more? Where is the line? What should the US do?
 
Biden is tightrope walking and doing the right thing. He is throwing lots of military help to Ukraine while keeping America out of the Putin mess.
Trump would have made it all about him. He lacks the temperament, intelligence or historical knowledge to make a proper decision.

new instructions have been issued throughout the bubble: forget about trying to spin Putin's and T****'s behavior as 'Zalensky was asking for it', or 'most Ukrainians want Putin there', or Putin is just stopping the Nazi takeover'...whatever. The new deal is 'Biden just isn't being tough enough on Putin, he's a weak leader'......we're seeing more and more Trumpers actually bashing Putin now, like every patriotic American has been doing daily from the git. real-time revisionism, write the script as you go and air it on Fox
 
and of course if Biden were to take Putin's bait and commit direct US ground/air support, they would howl at the moon and claim Biden's recklessness has started WWIII

emotionally all members of the Grievance Industrial Complex are children, slinging mud on the playground everywhere, wallowing in it too

It's their Country, let them defend it.
Course, we should give them defensive weapons to defend themselves.

Yep. The Right-wing "We love Trump/Putin" mantra is over. Now ... "Biden is Weak" is the new Storyline.

There is a lot of MAGA here who complained two months ago that Biden & Co. were being war mongers for warning Putin was preparing an invasion

If you're not willing to do more, you are supporting Putin, and Mitt Romney thinks you're a traitor (as well as everyone on The View). That fact is likely what swayed them.

exactly...........various GOP senators started screaming for no-fly zones about a week back as I recall, they really don't care if a WWIII-style ground war were to develop.....it's literally just another reason to attack Biden, even the world's survival is fair game in their party-over-country (everything actually) world

I sincerely doubt your in-laws ever defended Putin.

We should try our best to give the Ukrainians the weapons they say they need. We should not allow any of our soldiers to set foot in Ukraine. I’m not opposed training some of their soldiers on Patriot system to defend themselves with but any trAining cannot happen in Ukraine. We need to give them 500 Swicthblade 600 to take out tanks and artillery. We need to facilitate the transfer of the MIGs We need to help them get the Russian built SU 600 AA missiles . We may not be able to in force a no fly zone but we can help them enforce one themselves. I Putin bitches remind him Russian pilots were flying MIGs in a Vietnam

As incompetently as Brandon has handled Ukraine, the matter was mishandled by the West from 1991 to today. Nothing he has done will compare to his old boss who promised to be "more flexible" with Putin's needs, and effectively handed him Crimea.

I'd agree w/ all of this.

No one knows where Putin's line is. And there might not be one - he might be bluster when it comes to escalating and resorting to nukes. But you still have to try to toe that line; no one wants to push this to a point where it becomes more of a global war.

What has Biden done wrong?

I understand the need to always criticize him, and he's not a great President. But the Ukraine has been his finest moment, so far - he is leading the world response and has put as much pressure on Russia as we can without pushing things to a point of no return.
