How bad do things have to get before a revolt?

Is it time for a rehaul of the economic system? Anyone with a bit of economic insight(who is honest) can see that the current economic system is a failure........

Right now, things are tough for the majority of people.

Back in the day the Monarchs would come up with so many excuses to tax the people, and the people believed the lies(usually fear tactics) and payed. Those that didn't fall for the lies were dealt with by the monarch's soldiers.....

Eventually the tax burden became so much that the people revolted. They'd rather risk their lives then be a slave to a corrupt monarchy.

Now seeing that 80% of Americans are living in debt, and over 50% are living pay check to paycheck? The price of necessities are rising rapidly from groceries to utilities to homes. Not to mention as a result, taxes.....The fact that the national debt is at a unsustainable level? When will enough be enough I wonder? What is stopping the people from doing something about the fact that their country is sinking down the tubes, and their wealth is being exported to Asia??

I guess some still have hope in the bogus democratic process whose politicians lie, say they will bring change and it's business aiding the rich as usual. Also many Christians remain idle...why? They believe these are signs of the second coming. Our ancestorsDon't rely on politicians. They are all elite puppets or allies. If a person not connected to the elites won? The elites can pretty much make him useless. He'd have to pull a Fidel Castro and clean house in government and country. Also the elitist owned papers would turn on that non-elitist in a second. Paint him as an incompetent fool.

What I would suggest?

It would have to be a nationwide revolution. Destroy the FOREIGN credit monopoly called the Federal Reserve. Say "party is over" to the creditors and abolish the National debt, which is mostly composed of interest. Introduce a new National Central bank, with congress's constitutional right to make money, only this time interest free.

Take government control of all major industry.

Limit campaign donations! Allow a modest limit on what politicians can spend. Leveling the playing field.

Give more power to the individual states. Have more positions in office elected by the people. So that the politician does not have a monopoly on power.

There are so many things that can be done. believed the same thing for millenniums, until things got so bad they eventually took maters into their own hands. Whether Jesus is coming or not? Is not a reason to remain idle. What if this is another false alarm?

You won't criticize the first black president. So your point is moot

HUH? What does this have to do with the OP?Why do all you people always have to turn this into a Democrat vs Republican thing?

I criticized Obama for following the footsteps of GWB to financial ruin. I criticized Obama's support for Monsanto. I criticized Obama for many things, but do you think Obama bears the responsibility alone?

Revolts usually start when things are getting a bit better and people have hope. Alternately, they need a strong, educated revolutionary party with a sense of tactics. I don't think the chances of revolt are currently high, though it is a good time to recruit intelligent people since the current system is manifestly morally and - as far as ordinary people are concerned - economically bankrupt

Apparently historians say that as long as the people have a roof, sex and food on the table, they will not revolt. Things have to get pretty bad for most cowards to risk getting hurt. Most of the bullies are on the bad side.

Generally, revolts don't happen until people are hungry.

That's what they say in the past, though I think things are different today. We enjoy more luxuries then in the past, if the way of living we are used to, becomes too expensive, I believe people may revolt.

The only group that has a right to revolt is conservatives. Everyone else is getting sloshed at Kool-Aid mixers.

Things have to get much worse. While certain things are getting worse, we enjoy a much higher standard of living than most of the world. We like to complain when the price of gas or groceries goes up. In other countries they complain when their last family member dies of AIDS, or gets sent to a forced labor camp.

Well yeah, Jarod. Things are getting better for us here in a RED state. Have you thanked Governor Scott today?

No, I think things are getting better despite Gov. Scott. They are getting better in a national sense and that affects Florida. If we had the bullet train Gov. Scott gave away we would be even better off.

As long as people get what they regard as 'normal', perhaps. Wars complicate the picture, and the perceived strength or weakness of the bullies, together with the contradictions between the various gangs.

Sure they do, unemployment is down, foreclosures are down, rates of people insured are up......

And yet. 80% of the population in debt, and more then 50% living paycheck to paycheck is good? That's not a stable economy. Unemployment numbers are deceiving. I hear 91 million of Americans are not considered unemployed. But as not looking for employment? How do they survive? Can you say drug dealers?lol And foreclosures are down because no one is buying homes! Would you buy a home living paycheck to paycheck?

People are buying homes right and left around here, the price is up significantly.

We are on a slow steady upswing following the great Recession.

If you compare what you describe as right and left to the entire population of the US? You will know, most are NOT buying homes.

You've been in a recession for awhile, and the "war on terror' helped stimulate a broken economy", not to mention a record amount of times the debt ceiling was raised. Sorry. All my sources say America is screwed. It will be interesting to see how they weasel their way out of this one. Many American millionaires/billionaires have already abandoned ship and moved to another country.
