House Jan. 6 committee to focus on Trump's 'dereliction of duty' during Capitol riot at next public hearing, committee member says

The January 6 committee is holding hearings on Trump's role in the Capitol riot.

Rep. Elaine Lurie said the upcoming hearing will focus on Trump's "dereliction of duty."

Lurie said the committee is working to piece together what Trump did and didn't do during the riot.

The upcoming January 6 committee hearing will focus on a deep dive that former President Donald Trump knew he lost the election but still tried to overturn it and his "dereliction of duty," a committee member said.

The upcoming January 6 committee hearing will focus on a deep dive that former President Donald Trump knew he lost the election but still tried to overturn it and his "dereliction of duty," a committee member said.

Democratic Rep. Elaine Lurie told NBC's "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd that the upcoming hearing will show how Trump tried to pressure local, state and federal officials to overturn the election, after baselessly claiming it was rigged against him.

"We've pieced together a very comprehensive tick-tock timeline of what he did," The Virginia lawmaker said.
Lurie told Todd that it's more accurate to say that the committee now has a timeline of what Trump was not doing before and during the insurrection than what he was doing.

Perfect. Like the Uvalde cops, he just sat there and watched the carnage. There's a parallel there. He could have Tweeted and gone on TV hours earlier to stop it.

He not only did not stop, from many accounts he watched it over and over on TV and agreed with the ones chanting to hang the vice president.

I know! A lot of our MAGA crowd here is in denial about everything. Fortunatly it is not they the committee's trying reach. I saw a news report a few minutes ago that independent voters, who had not been following the 1/6 situation very closely were shocked. They had not clue what twump was up to.

Independents are who the GOP need to get them elected. For non-gerrymandered congressional districts they are in danger from the Dems. For Senate seats.. they could easily go "blue" now.

LOL.. so for all our trump team who are screaming, "nothing to see here". The majority of us now disagree!

Uh oh, GOP.. tik, tik, we're coming for ya!
