Yes you are very smug today, but if Trump loses how do you come out ahead?

So you hate Trump. You hated Cruz. You claim to be a conservative but run for the tall grass whenever a real doctrinaire conservative shows up. I am not saying Trump is a conservtaive.

I am asking what at this point do you gain by not supporting Trump?

I ask because maybe you can explain why supposedly perfectly acceptable candidates like Romney and McCain lost
 
It's not smug, my feelings towards Trump have been the same all along. He's a Democrat who I don't support. I never liked him nor supported him so this tape doesn't change anything to me. Like Cruz said he's a New York liberal.

McCain lost because of Bush. Romney lost because the base that makes-up the Trumptards didn't vote.

What do we gain by supporting Trump. He's just a number version of Hillary.

He is a conservative. You've never been even remotely conservative. You're a retrograde reactionary stuck in the 1950's. Maybe if the GOP started trying to govern from the center right or even the right instead of the extremes they might possibly win some national elections.

But no, you pushed us moderates out of the party as RINO's and now you're shoving out traditional conservatives as not being true conservatives and pretty soon you won't even be able to win State wide elections and all because some poorly educated far right wing fools have convinced themselves the world revolves around them and their out of date and out of touch views from a bygone century.

Us "retrograde" as you call us have been asked to support mushy squishes like Dole, McCain, Bush 41, and Romney. All lost.

Bush 41 only won because of Reagan and Dukakis was a complete douche.

I gain by not supporting a man who is a Democrat, a charlatan and makes a mockery of most/all principles Republicans claim to stand for along with doing long term damage to the party. My goal is to not have the Republican Party become nationally what it is in California.

I gain by not supporting a man who is a Democrat, a charlatan and makes a mockery of most/all principles Republicans claim to stand for along with doing long term damage to the party. My goal is to not have the Republican Party become nationally what it is in California.

Key word. They CLAIM to support the principles. But they have screwed us at every turn.

They created this mess starting by never defending Reagan against baseless attacks from left wingers, always accepting left wing premises, and never fighting for anything.

Bottom line is that many of us on the right feel that the establishment GOP treats us like the democrat party treats blacks. They trot out slogans every four years begging for votes but NEvER do anything of real substance. Did the fuckers block Planned Parenthood funding when they had a chance? No. have they ever really tried to take on Obama? No. why? Because they worry about what the media will say and "conservatives" like you caving at every turn

I understand among Republicans individuals/groups have different priorities. To me defunding plan parenthood is not near the top of the list. Just not something I think much about and if it helps poor people have less babies I'm not losing any sleep. I get to others it's a more important issue.

I'm also aware that demographics are changing in this country. Trump, to some, is this last hope that enough whites can vote to put him in office. But the math doesn't work hence the need for Republicans to expand their voter base to non whites. There's no reason Republicans can't get a larger percent of the Hispanic and Asian vote. That's what I see and Trump is putting the party even deeper behind the eight ball in terms of that.

Republicans in Congress in the '90's were able to make Clinton triangulate and pass conservative legislation. With Obama they couldn't do anything so people on both the right and left dislike them. Trump is going to punish the party down the ballot as well. His unintended legacy is large number of Hispanic voters are registering, as Democrats, to oppose him. That's the damage Trump is doing.

Demographics are changing because our laws are being broken. What part of that don't you get? Do you think these minorities are just springing up out of the ground?

They are invading our country and you stand by letting it happen just shrugging your shoulders going oh well. Commiefornistan is a microcosm of the shit hole this country will turn into if we don't fight for principles.

The fact that they are considered spics, negros etc by those on the right don't help those who are sympathetic to what Republicans stand for want to be a part of the party.

Where I live we have a large number of Asian and Indian immigrants who are legally coming to this country. These people are educated and work hard. They also support solid families. These are people who should open to the party message.

As Hispanics gained more roots in this country they are going to want more exononic achievement and growth which fits right in with what Republicans preach.

I've said before I have no say or power in what Republicans do. By the time I vote the candidate has already been selected or the election decided. I'm not moving the party. But large numbers of Asians are coming to this country and we're not going to close the door to the them. The party needs to make an effort to go after them.

actually the US government does have a responsibility to put the welfare of its citizens first as opposed to other nations. Just like other nations do with its citizens. If we outsource everything at the same time that other nations are either doing everything to welcome foreign corporations or helping their citizens get access to jobs in the domestic US labor market then you end up with some people who have jobs at very low wages with the rest giving up on having a job altoghether. You of course also have the well off ruling class who would like this to continue.
