After a difficult five years shepherding President Obama's signature health care law, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has tendered her resignation, according to two senior administration officials.

President Obama accepted the resignation this week and intends to announce that he will nominate his Office of Management and Budget Director Sylvia Mathews Burwell to replace Sebelius.

He will make the official announcement at 11 a.m. on Friday at the White House, according to officials, who asked to be identified so as not to preempt the president.

In recent months, Sebelius has faced heavy scrutiny after the troubled launch of the federal online marketplace, and has been deluged with Republican attacks over the costs of the Affordable Care Act.

Officials suggested Sebelius made the decision on her own to resign and was not forced out of the post, but she had been under fire since the troubled launch of HealthCare.gov on Oct. 1.

Obama: Kathleen Sebelius has “Earned” the Right to Retire

At a press conference today at the White House, President Obama officially announced that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is stepping down. He thanked her for her service and wished her a happy retirement.
“After five years of extraordinary service to our country -- and 7.5 million signups through the health care exchanges -- she’s earned that right [to retire],” he said.

:palm:

Could he be anymore of an embarrassment to the country. She fucked up the whole project, and he tells the world what a great job she did.

She did a great job while under constant and undeserved attack from special interests.

She stayed on and saw the job to the end. I like to see someone stay after a huge mess like the website rollout and see to it that the mess is corrected.

7,000,000 plus!

They met the goal even after the disaster of a roll out.
