Another gun owner...another child needlessly injured...

And ANOTHER gun owner who, until yesterday, certainly believed that he was a "responsible" gun owner:

A 2-year-old boy in North Carolina is expected to survive after shooting himself with his father’s gun over the weekend.

Randolph County deputies said that the toddler found the handgun in his parents’ room at their home just outside Asheboro around 2 p.m. on Saturday. The boy put the gun in his mouth and fired it.

According to WGHP, the boy was listed in critical condition Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem on Sunday, but was expected to live.

“The bullet missed all the vital arteries there in the neck in the head and also missed the spinal cords, so I said it’s a miracle the child is still with us,” Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Captain Derrick Hill explained to WGHP.

A neighbor told the station that “the good Lord was looking after him.”

The sheriff’s and district attorney’s offices were considering whether to charge the parents with leaving the firearm unattended.

One wonders how many times the "responsible" gun owner from the OP snorted derisively at anyone who dared recommend any sort of gun regulation.

ROFL

Just found out, the family is black. We can all go back to ignoring the story.

No, just you.

I finally figured the solution. Have all gun owners sign affidavits and prove they are responsible gun owners, backed by liability insurance.

Violation resulting in injury will be 10-25 years in prison. Death equals first degree murder, life in prison. Yes, this will apply to any illegal use of a gun. If a child is killed, automatic death penalty.

I'm sure many car drivers considered themselves good drivers before the fatal accident they caused.

Just as I am sure you still refer to yourself as a person of moderate temperament, even though you flew off the handle and stuck a gun in another human beings face for smoking near your child.
