Don't do it!

Tonight, bars across Washington will turn off Monday Night Football in favor of the first of three presidential debates. Here's where to watch with bingo, presidential impersonators and strong drinks. Admission to all events is free.

201 Bar

The Senate-side bar is hosting ClotureClub.com's drinking game ("Drink from your cerveza and yell 'Murica!' every time someone says 'Mexico' or 'Wall'" or "Drink one and check your phone every time someone mentions 'email server'"). The bar makes it easy on your wallet with $5 red and blue cocktails and discounted buckets of Budweiser. Sister bar and upstairs neighbor Union Pub will also have drink specials.

Bar Pilar

For election season, the bartenders at Bar Pilar and spirit and Weekly Standard writers Victorino Matus and Eric Felten have come up with four drinks inspired by presidential campaigns of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, because who isn't craving a Benjamin Harrison cocktail? Try them during Bar Pilar's debate parties, which will feature the debate on a projection screen and Debate Bingo cards: Fill up your card, and you'll get a free drink.

Busboys and Poets

Each branch of the local progressive bookstore chain will show the debate on large screens, with drink specials and "a complimentary bowl of Skittles" for all attendees. After the main event, the Shirlington and Brookland restaurants offer a "Speak Your Peace" open mic session, while the flagship 14th and V Busboys has a panel discussion on "Debunking the Presidential Debate" that includes Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin and author and former Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers.

Capitol Lounge

The Hill's favorite haunt for staffers welcomes debate viewers with Trump and Clinton impersonators, Red vs. Blue drink specials and full sound in all bars.

Number Nine

The best way to prepare for the debate? Number Nine's two-for-one happy hour, with buy-one, get-one free cocktails, wine and beer from 5 p.m. until the debate begins at 9 p.m. (You'll have to pay full price for your drinks after that, but the debate will be shown on a large screen.)

Open City

Head to Woodley Park for $5 wings, happy hour prices on draft beers and Debate Bingo with a $50 gift card for the winner.

Penn Social

Ever wanted to see Donald and Hillary on a 22-foot high-definition projection screen? This is your chance. (Monday Night Football will be shown on 10-foot screens.) The Penn Quarter bar will also have beer specials during the debate.

Pennsylvania 6

The downtown seafood restaurant is offering happy hour from 9 to 10:30 p.m. while showing the debate in its bar area. Specials include $1 oysters, $4 oyster shooters, $1 off draft beers and $7 house wine.

Sauf Haus

While the Dupont Circle rooftop bar is better known for its Oktoberfest celebrations, it's putting the sound on throughout the bar during the debate. Tabs started by women are 22 percent off, and flights of Oktoberfest beers are $8 all night.

Shaw's Tavern

Shaw's Tavern will show every debate -- including the vice presidential edition -- with half-price pizzas, $4 Miller Lite and $6 glasses of house wine.

Vendetta

This week's American Sign Language (ASL) Trivia Night at Vendetta has a 2016 election theme, and the game will be followed by debate viewing. If you want to participate in trivia -- which is conducted in sign language but features "voice interpreters" reading the questions -- arrive at the H Street NE bar before 7 p.m. to sign up. Prizes include bar tabs and $50 gift certificates.

Ventnor Sports Cafe

For one night, Ventnor Sports Cafe is taking the focus off football. (Owner Scott Auslander said the bar will have the game on some of the 40 TVs, just without sound.) The Adams Morgan bar, known for its annual State of the Union drinking games, will hand out debate bingo cards and award prizes to winners.
