Report: Health care costs to rise 9 pct in 2010

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Employers who offer health insurance coverage could see a 9 percent cost increase next year, and their workers may face an even bigger hit, according to a report from consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Costs will rise in part because workers worried about losing their jobs are using their health care more while they still have it, the firm said in the report released to The Associated Press. The report also said rising unemployment is driving up medical costs.

The reality is that many cannot afford to use healthcare. And the numbers will increase.
And the reality is there are many in France under this very umbrella, they can't afford the high copay nor the supplemental insurance. They are the 'forgotten' in a system praised as 'the best'. Still they are flirting with rationing, even with those who do not get care because they can't afford it. Temporary fixes that turn out to spread the misery rather than fix the problem are something we should avoid.

There are 50 states in the union, let's give them all a chance to come up with different ideas and then adopt the one that actually works.

damo I posted on another thread on this. Prescriptions were $.85 and Dr visit was about $4 if I recall.
that high copay rhetoric is malebovine excrement.
Learn what you are talking about.

The copay is low. Lots lower than my up to $60 copay for presc and $15 for Dr visit. And I pay about 1k/month for insurance.

Here is the same old thing Damo.

Umm WRONG!

Finally, to counter the rise in health-care costs, the government has installed two plans, (in 2004 and 2006), which require insured people to declare a referring doctor in order to be fully reimbursed for specalist visits, and which installed a mandatory co-pay of 1 € (about $1.45) for a doctor visit, 0,50 € (about 80 ¢) for each box of medicine prescribed, and a fee of 16-18 € (20-25 $) per day for hospital stays and for expensive procedures.

And I answered in that thread. I won't waste my time repeating it here unless people whine about having to look at a different thread.

just go to my thread on busting the high french copay myth for more info on the copay.

You need to spend some time studing the french health care system Damo.
It is embaressing not to know what you are talking about.
Don't ask me how I know that.
