Health care backlash

What is wrong with these people?

And these types want to "take back the country"?

Reps. Louise Slaughter and Bart Stupak have received death threats.

A tea party participant published what he thought was Rep. Thomas Perriello’s home address and urged disgruntled voters to “drop by” for a “good face-to-face chat.”

Vandals broke windows at Slaughter’s office in New York and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’s office in Arizona.

And angry voters are planning to protest this weekend at the home of Steve Driehaus — who’s already seen a photograph of his children used in a newspaper ad published by reform opponents.

The vitriolic health care debate has become personal — too personal, say House Democrats who voted for the bill and now find not just themselves but their families in the cross hairs of opponents.

Slaughter, a Democrat who chairs the House Rules Committee, said a caller to her office last week vowed to send snipers to “kill the children of the members who voted yes.” Her office reported the call to police, who were dispatched to provide protection for Slaughter’s grandchildren. She has also been in touch with the FBI and U.S. Postal Service inspectors, who intercepted a letter en route to her home in upstate New York.

Stupak, the Michigan Democrat whose last-minute compromise on abortion guaranteed passage of the bill Sunday, said callers have left messages for him saying, “You’re dead; we know where you live; we’ll get you.

“My wife still can’t answer the phone,” Stupak told POLITICO on Tuesday. The messages are “full of obscenities if she leaves it plugged in. In my office, we can’t get a phone out. It’s just bombarded.”

there is absolutely nothing wrong with these people and hell yes they want their country back. If you are going to steal it from them via legislative fiat, you can damn sure bet that we'll resort to the same tactics we used against the crown.

they had a chance, they didn't listen, and voted to violate the rights of the people and the constitution again. Seems like they are reaping what they sow.

yes it is. because of the egregious conduct of those voting for this monstrosity of an unconstitutional mandate, our country is going down the drain.

If you think death threats, injury threats and threats against innocent families and children are justified over the new law, then God help the country because these angry people are no different from terrorists.

Conservatives have to learn that the country is not THEIRS. It belongs to all of us and enough people supported the bill to make it law. Let the 13 AGs make their case to the Court, but violence is not the answer.

So what is the bottom line here? Do you believe the ill citizens should be looked after or not?

you, yourself, stated just recently that you thought a supreme court decision was an abortion, correct? Just because a bill is passed and signed in to law does not constitute constitutionality.

when the courts fail us, violence is the only answer. swift, brutal violence.

nobody is looking after mine, but me. nobody has ever looked out for mine, but me. where were you when mine needed open heart surgery? so i did it myself. i'll be in debt the rest of my life, but i did it myself. if i can do it, anyone can do it.

Wouldn't it have been nice if there was a plan in place so you wouldn't be in debt now?

Yes, you're correct. But I'm not ready to take a gun to their heads over it.

A judge in MS today ruled that the high school that cancelled a prom because two gay teenagers wanted to attend can't be forced to reinstate the dance. A clear violation of the girls' first amendment rights, but I'm not going to threaten the judge's children over it.

There's reaction and overreaction, and threats cross the line.

that all depends upon the demands and regulations for said plan, say like mandating that I pay for your mothers brothers sisterinlaws 3rd cousins nosejob. things like that.

Actually, the more I think about it, I am paying way less than any insurance company would have paid for it. maybe we should lower costs that way, what ya think?

different people have different limitations. some people have had theirs crossed.

two lines of thought on this.
1) students have the barest of rights in the school environment, limited to their private persons. rights of speech and such are, as you liberals like to use the term, 'reasonably regulated' to promote the best possible educational environment.
2) personally, this isn't a free speech issue, but a 14th amendment issue.

There's reaction and overreaction, and threats cross the line.
I disagree. Threats are right up on the line. anything after that is debatable.

Most universal plans cost half of what the US spends on medical. Sounds like that's a good place to start.

No insurance company I know of pays for elective cosmetic surgery.
