President Donald Trump's deliberately eyebrow-raising remark during a Fox News interview immediately generated mockery on social media from critics who quipped, "he would know."

During his interview with anchor Laura Ingraham, Trump said he looked forward to April 2 — the "liberation of America" — when he enacts tariffs.

"China will pay and other countries will pay," he vowed. "We've been ripped off by every country in the world, friend and foe."

Trump added: "We've been the fat, dumb, foolish country that allowed everybody to rip us off. Including our friends, look at NATO!" he said.

Experts have warned that Trump's proposed tariffs are expected to harm consumers, industries reliant on imported raw materials, exporters facing retaliatory tariffs, and the broader U.S. economy via increased costs and reduced competitiveness.

Trump is too stupid to understand the countries he puts tariffs on will just pass the cost of those tariffs on to the consumer and it will make the price of everything we buy go up and hurt the US consumer and as a lot of top economists have come out and said it could cause a deep recession / depression like we haven't seen in almost a hundred years.
