has anyone noticed that since Jan 20th

The screams from the left were to get us out of Iraq immediately.

I have noticed those screams have stopped.

Is the war now ok? Are the deaths and atrocities no longer happening?

The difference is now there's a date certain for withdrawal (albeit not a complete withdrawal).

There are still purists I see demonstrating at my states capital, and I respect their dissent. The media power brokers however have no need for the battering ram used to attack Bush.

Clearly, I'm living on another planet. On the planet where I live, lefties were up in arms about the extended withdrawal date. Some begrudgingly gave some praise for the fact that we finally had a date, but there was no mass celebration from the likes of Kucinich, Maddow, Olbermann, et al.

Trying to point out double-standards is a popular thing to do, but it doesn't really apply on Iraq. People who are anti-war still basically want the troops home now, and Obama has been the subject of plenty of criticism on this.

ABC reports that 85% of Iraqis feel safe, 65% believe that Democracy is the way to go. Every party that had the word "Islamic" in it lost seats in the last election while National secular parties gained.

They report that there is true political discourse between former enemies and that 75% of Iraqis report that they are safe to travel anywhere in the nation.

Road trips are no longer the danger they were and that evenings are full of people walking the streets.

This was a report from that Irish dude who constantly repeated how "amazing" it was that this was true.

I'll see if I can find the video.

Does this mean...GASP...that Iraq was/is a success? That we now have one of the largest oil producing ME nations becoming democratic and perhaps even helping to stabalize the ME? Wow and Obama did all of this in just 60+ days in office; he really is the Bomba!

Are the righties so stupid that they didn't see the lefts false outrage on Iraq. Please the libs don't give a fuck about soldiers. They just wanted power back to pass the load of shit Obama just dumped on us. That's why you don't here 2 percent of the pre election crying.

The Nightly News Hour on PBS still reports them all and shows photos of all they can get photos for.

In respectful silence.

The news about the deaths in Iraq has never been given proper attention, before the election and after the election, however I have not noticed much of a change except for a gradual loss in interest by the American people.

The man who caused this problem in Iraq is no longer president, and the new president has concreate responsable plans to end this war... in most people's minds, problem solved.

Where the fuck have you guys been.

They were showing caskets on TV for the first time in 20 years.

Yes we still want the troops home and Yes I have seen both Madow and Olberman give Obama shit for the unfulfilled promises.

Your team just wanted the hard part (leaving) passed on to the next person and you thought that was great.

Yes people in Iraq want democracy, when we leave we will see if they can keep it.

I hope they do.

Bush still lied his ass off to the American people and thousands Died for his lies.

IMHO, there have been way too many posts like this since the election, and all they usually reflect accurately is the tunnel vision of the poster.

Why aren't lefties pissed about this now, why aren't they pissed about that? Oh, suddenly they LIKE Bush's policies? Why aren't they saying this about Obama, or Iraq?

They are, they are & they are. There is no widespread double-standard that I can see; there are hackish apologists on both sides, but they are a minority.
