A dispute between two members of a suburban Philadelphia church during a Sunday worship service ended with one person shooting and killing the other.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said the disagreement escalated from an 11 a.m. "disturbance" at Keystone Fellowship Church in North Wales. Authorities didn't say what the disturbance was or describe the crux of the disagreement at the evangelical church.

Police were called and found Robert Braxton, 27, of Montgomeryville, with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Abington Lansdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after noon. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Steele said the other man involved, who was treated at a hospital and released, was cooperating with police but was not in custody as investigators determine whether charges are warranted.

"We're going to have to determine whether the shooting was justified under the law," he said.

The man had a concealed carry permit for his semiautomatic handgun, he said. Braxton was unarmed as far as investigators know, but that was still under investigation, Steele said

"We don't know what the relationship is between the two of them," Steele said.

Keystone Fellowship Montgomeryville issued a statement saying officials were "saddened" by the shooting. "Our congregation is in prayer for everyone involved," the statement said.

No video exists of the shooting, which occurred in between two seating areas, Steele said. He said investigators were still trying to determine what kind of disturbance led to the shooting, interviewing "hundreds" who were in the church.

"We've got a lot of interviews to do," Steele said. "That's ongoing, that's going to take some time to do."

UPDATE:

The victim, 27-year-old Robert Braxton, was shot in the chest during "a disturbance that escalated into an altercation between two church members," at today's 11 a.m. service, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said. Braxton died at a local hospital, Steele said.

Steele said the suspected shooter has not been charged at this point and is cooperating as the investigators work "to determine whether this shooting was fired under the law."

He added, "We are still interviewing witnesses and the autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow at the Montgomery County Corner's Office."

The shooter had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, which was believed to be a semi-automatic handgun, Steele said.

Hallelujah and pass the ammunition. Pennsylvania is a SYG state. Maybe Braxton was possessed by demons and seen as a "threat".
Guns save lives.

CRADLING A GIRL OUTSIDE THE CHURCH

‘We need healing,’ pastor says after fatal church shooting during hymns:

Hundreds of people were inside the Southern Baptist church during the shooting.

Congregants described the atmosphere as gunfire erupted inside the church. Breeana Somers told NBC 10 that “it sounded like three pops, almost like a champagne bottle opening three times.” Somers told the station, “You could hear some screaming and some crying.”

There have been at least 1198 “deadly force” incidents and 626 violent deaths in U.S. houses of worship since 1999.

Statistics compiled by searching Google for news, show that more deadly force incidents have occurred in Baptist churches during that timeframe than in churches of any other denomination.

A churchgoer who shot a fellow parishioner in a Pennsylvania church after a fight broke out over a seat in the sanctuary has been arrested, authorities say.

The argument started when a churchgoer told Robert Braxton III, 27, he was sitting in seats reserved for two other church members during Sunday service at the Keystone Fellowship Church, district attorney Kevin Steele said.

But the situation soon turned violent when Mark Storms, 46, approached Braxton, carrying a gun in his hand and telling the 27-year-old to get out of the sanctuary.

The gun-toting suspect then flashed a "Concealed Weapons Permit" badge, which the district attorney’s office belives was purchased online.

The gunman then opened fire, blasting Braxton once in the chest and again in the right arm.

Braxton was rushed to Abington-Lansdale Hospital, where he died from his multiple gunshot wounds.

The 46-year-old gunman was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment.

Another chickenshit gun nut who can't resolve a simple dispute over seats with anything other than the faux manhood he carries strapped to his hip.
