The face of the republican party

Wake up call to Democrats who think that President Obama should include the GOP:

One of the most respected GOP thinkers made it clear last week that the Republican Party is better off refusing to work with the Democrats. Nor should they be offering constructive alternative plans of their own. Instead, the GOP should embrace being the "Party of No" (No new ideas, No bipartisanship, No help at all).

Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour (R-NO) thinks his party should just say yes to obstructionism. Barbour, a former RNC Chairman, now chairs the Republican Governors Association, so his advice is highly likely to carry considerable weight as the GOP heads into midterm elections.

Barbour is also considered one of the front runners for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2012. He's just what Limbaugh’s party needs, a corpulent closet racist who made his fortune lobbying for the tobacco industry.
The other GOP possibles for president are Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.

Gov. Barbour warned his fellow Republicans not to fall into the trap that they avoided in 1994: that of making the midterm elections into an actual discussion of each party's ideas, instead of a referendum on the Democratic Party's faults.

House Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) even proposed an "80/20" split between attacking the Democrats (that would be the 80%) and making policy suggestions of their own (that would be the 20%).

If it seems selfish that the GOP would spend only one-fifth of its energy trying to help solve some of the problems facing America in these difficult times, you may be heartened to learn that Gov. Haley Barbour actually thinks that is a mistake. Twenty percent of the time spent offering policy initiatives, argues Barbour, is far too much - he'd prefer the GOP do it... well, zero percent of the time.

The Republican 2010 agenda is clear. Do not work with Democrats to solve America's crucial problems together. Don't even bother to offer an alternative - even a completely crazy one - until the 11th hour. Instead, sit back and criticize the Dems, lob verbal bombs at President Obama and pray that America doesn't recover until after the election. A terrorist strike wouldn't hurt, either.
