march 22 2022 In an emotional opening statement at the confirmation hearing for President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, on Monday, New Jersey Democrat Sen. Cory Booker expressed his excitement for the occasion, yet was called out for saying something that appeared highly offensive to many.

“I cannot tell you how happy I am,” he said. “Today, we should rejoice because President Biden nominated someone that we’ve heard to be the 116th associate judge of the supreme court who is extraordinarily talented and who also happens to be a black woman — something we’ve never seen before.”

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker wrote in the early 1990s -- while a student at Stanford -- about an incident on New Year's Eve 1984 (when he was 15) in which he groped a female friend's breast after the two of them had kissed.

"With the 'Top Gun' slogan ringing in my head, I slowly reached for her breast," Booker wrote of that night. "After having my hand pushed away once, I reached my 'mark.'"

To any normal human being it would be understood as it was intended and literally said, that Biden nominated to the Supreme Court for the first time in American history a talented black woman. No gaffe at all.
