Guess who suggesting could stay in office after 2 terms, amid poor approval ratings

Donald Trump has suggested the American people would ask him to stay in the White House beyond two terms – in violation of the US constitution.:laugh::laugh:

Lashing out after recent media coverage of polls which showed him losing in key 2020 battleground states to Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden, he said he could see himself staying in office beyond 2024.

“The good news is that at the end of 6 years, after America has been made GREAT again and I leave the beautiful White House (do you think the people would demand that I stay longer? KEEP AMERICA GREAT),” he wrote.

He also attacked The New York Times and Washington Post after they reported that his own campaign’s polling, along with publicly available data, showed he was behind many of the other top Democrats vying for their party’s nomination.

Calling them a “disgrace” and “the enemy of the people”, he has also claimed in recent days that his internal polling actually shows him “winning everywhere”.

Mr Trump has repeatedly railed against the press and the negative coverage he has received first as a presidential candidate and then as a president.

He has also previously endorsed suggestions that he should stay in the White House after eight years as president, despite this running against the American constitution which states that presidents are limited to being elected to just two four-year terms.

The 22nd amendment to the constitution was ratified in 1951, imposing those term limits.

Mr Trump’s presidency has been dogged with low approval ratings since just after he took office in January of 2017
.

While he enjoyed a small window in which his approval rating was higher than disapproval – a period of less than a month – his numbers have hovered just above 40 per cent ever since.

His current approval rating is 42.6 per cent, with 53 per cent of Americans saying they do not approve of the job he is doing as president, according to FiveThirtyEight.

That’s compared to the ratings seen by his predecessor Barack Obama, whose approval ratings during his presidency roughly oscillated between the low forties and mid fifties – with the latter not being uncommon.

He had a high 59 per cent approval rating in the last poll of his presidency by Gallup.

(do you think the people would demand that I stay longer? KEEP AMERICA GREAT),
notice it's in parenthesis as an afterthought.

You know what's really funny>> Clinton saying "What if he refuses to accept the results of the election"
and 3 years later she STILL HASN'T ACCEPTED THE RESULTS!

I asked the same question...... I asked it months ago...

It should be interesting to see if Trump isn't successful in 2020 how he, working with his Fox network, frames the election results to "prove" it was all rigged. There will have to be some grand conspiracy fabricated that is heavily promoted and then the question will become how many Trumpkins will actually believe it and to what end

Sadly I believe so...... & I think most will, because they want to......

His tweet will be enough, evidence not necessary, if you look, you will see it everywhere.................................

You are right, the true lemmings will, if they swallowed Seth Rich, that Obama was a Muslim, and PizzaGate anything is possible, I could see enlistment numbers in all those whacked out secret state militias rising while Trump manipulates it enough to turn over a couple two three million plus

Trump is exactly correct. His followers would love to see him in office till he croaks. Read how badly fooled the rightys on this board are. They think the thief in chief is a great president who is responsible for that is good in America. He can do no wrong. Trump is the best conman in American history. PT Barnum would have admired him. His trick is keeping them on board no matter what stupid incompetent shit he does. Turns out, that is easy. The conned are always the last ones to know. You can tell them over and over but they just know, They are insiders who have it all figured out. Then we have to bail them out again.

If what we see here on a daily basis could be extrapolated.... it will be "interesting." But my prediction is that this "will he leave when he loses?" is just more stupid on the part of the Toadstool, and the LW media are equally stupid for speculating on it. Ain't gonna happen.

oh please.. "fascist" "dictator" - these are meaningless memes with absolutely no basis in fact

When Trump encourages people to use violence against protesters, that is doing Fascism. When Trump lies constantly, to the point where truth doesn't matter to his supporters anymore, that is doing Fascism. When Trump acts like the media is against him, calling anything he doesn't like "Fake News," that is doing Fascism. When Trump sides with dictators over our own FBI, that is doing Fascism. When Trump regularly sucks up to dictators and says we should be more like them, that is doing Fascism. When Trump talks about how the "tough people" are on his side, that is doing Fascism.

I agree that words like Fascist, Nazi, dictator, racist, Communist, and so on are used way too much and have lost all meaning. But this one particular politician actually is creating a culture that can very easily lead to Fascism.

You would be against an extra term or two??;)
yes...
the Office is bigger then any one man. FDR was an exception..

what i'd really like to see is a 6 year term. the problem with (2 ) 4 year terms is the politicing never stops
They get maybe a year, then everything shuts down for midterms, and soon after that we're in another election cycle

Hillary has accepted the election results, There have been no disputes, However, she did explain her view of what happened. She has that right. You know what is funny? you are wrong again.

But some fascists are very good people,

i usually ignore your tripe, but the delusion here is too much to read.

She hasn't "explained her views" -she's bellyached the Russian stole the election, or help throw the election.
She's recently said the Trump campaign Russian contacts are evidence of a "willing to collude" (WTF that means?)

She's made snide remarks about Putin and Trump that we know according to Mueller are not true..
She's been excusing in denial since the beginng and has shown no growth of self awareness
that she was a shitty candidate all around.

If Trump loses re-electon it will show even more she was a lying warmonger and rejected by the states.
Her Blue Wall crumbled
