Greenspan puts down the Ayn Rand novel

Like when the main character in The Fountainhead

blows up a lower-income apartment complex because they put balconies on his design. Makes tons of sense.

But the design was his intellectual property. Are you implying that one does not have property rights where one's intellectual property is concerned? This is probably the single most important question concerning personal liberty and freedom to be answered in the 20th century.

Keep in mind that this very medium that we are communicating in is an exercise in intellectual property rights. With out that, we would not even be having this discussion.

Rand is way overrated as a writer and a thinker.

When I read her it was years ago and dont even remember most of it.

She had a few ideas and wrote stiff unrealistic charactors who only exsisted for her to self stroke her own ego.

I just dont know why some think she is soooo great.

I don't remember Greenspan admitting the biggest problem IE the low fed funds rates that allowed all these crazy programs to happen and distorted the market. Greenspan has proven the fact the the Federal Reserve never places the blame for the problems it creates on itself. For the manage your own risk part remember Government backed fannie and freddie are over half the mortgages and they we're leveraged 66/1 so he's very much blaming Wall Street and the GSE's for that.

You're starting to sound like Dixie. Have you read Rand? She makes perfectly valid points on a number of topics. Is she absolutely right about absolutely everything? No but who is?

Why Desh, of course!

Ayn Rand presented a series of superhuman characters who never had to worry about troubles that happen in real life, or poverty (they were always magically able to raise as much money as they wanted), and pitted them against stupid strawmen. Reading the Fountainhead is like getting shot in the head.

Hmm, sounds like she was describing Democrats in the Senate and House of Reps.
