GOP Elector Pens Op-Ed Announcing Plan to Buck Trump

The long-shot campaign to convince the electoral college to deny Donald Trump the White House got a boost Monday night when a Republican elector from Texas called on his party to follow his lead and dump their nominee.

In an op-ed published in the New York Times, Christopher Suprun said his decision wasn't about policy. Nor was it about Trump losing the popular vote.

Instead, Suprun wrote, it was about having to cast his vote for someone "who shows daily he is not qualified for the office."

Citing everything from Trump's call on Russia to hack Hillary Clinton's emails to his recent appointments as president-elect and his decision to "stoke fear and create outrage," Suprun said that he could not vote for Trump on Dec. 19, when electors across the country will cast their ballots for president and vice president.

Instead, Suprun wrote, his vote will go to "an honorable and qualified man or woman... I pray my fellow electors will do their job and join with me in discovering who that person should be."

At least one founding father would back him, Suprun believes.

"Alexander Hamilton provided a blueprint for states' votes," he wrote. "Federalist 68 argued that an Electoral College should determine if candidates are qualified, not engaged in demagogy, and independent from foreign influence," he wrote. "Mr. Trump shows us again and again that he does not meet these standards. Given his own public statements, it isn't clear how the Electoral College can ignore these issues, and so it should reject him."

Two presidential electors to colleagues: Dump Trump
Two Democratic members of the Electoral College have launched a campaign to keep President-elect Donald Trump from entering the White House, according to a new report.

Washington’s Bret Chiafolo and Colorado’s Michael Baca hope at least 37 of their GOP colleagues will abandon Trump and force the House into picking the next president instead, Politico said Monday.

Politico said the pair’s so-called “Moral Electors” movement has already found one backer in Washington’s Robert Satiacum.
“This is a longshot,” Chiafolo told Politico in a phone interview Monday. "It’s a hail Mary. However, I do see situations where – when we’ve already had two or three [Republican] electors state publicly they didn’t want to vote for Trump. How many of them have real issue with Donald Trump in private?”

Careful Bukkky, your alter ego deshtard got banned last week for doing the same thing that you're doing now lol
