Hail Voltaire
Finally got my hands on a copy of "The Concerns of a Citizen" by George Romney, which was written during his 1968 Presidential campaign, and read it last night. What an incredible public servant. If this guy were around today, he would win with 60%+ of the vote and with support from all over the spectrum.
Anyway, it got me thinking how great it would have been had George Romney actually won the nomination in '68. We would have gracefully ended the Vietnam war, avoided the Watergate scandal, and the Republican Party would probably be a lot more sensible and moderate today. Hell, we probably would have elected McCain in 2000 and avoided Dubya altogether.
