Freedom of the Press: GOP Style...

  • Blogger asked to back away from candiate.
  • Blogger gets agressive shoves a guy.
  • Security cuffs and detains him.
  • Call police
  • Blogger claims his camera had video erased.
  • Police offer to have crime lab examine camera.
  • Blogger declines offer to prove if camera had been tampered with.

So you're fine with private security detaining people?

I don't know you anymore.

I am fine with people I would hire to protect me from a guy who refused to step back and then shoved one of my supporters. They should not have cuffed him; but not knowing the law in Alaska whether they lawfully did so is still unknown.

What should a security detail do if they come across a guy who won't back off and then shoves someone? What would be acceptable?

Refused to step back? What is he, Lord Vader?

Important people don't automatically get the "right of way".

Detaining him and erasing his camera was not acceptable. Why did they erase his camera? of course im sure he's just a liar because he not a "powerful candidate".

Get off the partisan crack!

I love you.:)

He's someone who hired security to protect the space around him. He did not assume the right of way the guy approached him and was asked to get his camera out of the guys face-several times ...Miller was surrounded by security and others from the event. The reporter shoved someone and so security detained him. They were hired to do that.

The guy made a claim he had some video errased. The security guards deny they did anything to the camera. The police offered to take the camera to their crime lab to see if it had ben tampered with. The guy refused the offer.

I love you more :loveu:

Watched this on the Ed Show yesterday. People like him are grabbing on to it trying to paint Miller in a bad light. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. Mr. Ed was shouting stuff that was much more opinion rather than fact. As long as this is a He said/She said sort of thing I refuse to believe either side. Waiting for more facts.

I don't have a problem with someone getting a reporter out of the way if they are trying to get somewhere and the reporter is preventing them from doing so. He can just report that the party involved declined to answer my questions. No harm done. If, as some claim, the man was detained for doing just that then I do have a problem. If he indeed shoved someone without provocation then he deserves to be handled roughly...probably not detained but handled roughly. Once again, still waiting for facts.

LMAO.... tell us Zappa.... did you post the entire article in your OP? Or did you post a portion of it and then provide a link for everyone else to go to should they want more?

I posted a full eight paragraphs to give anyone interested a pretty good overview of the story.

You however provide one lone sentence because you know including even ONE MORE sentence would greatly clarify that the site has grown dramatically since it's inception and show you to be a partisan hack.

But by all means continue to pretend you've got a leg to stand on.

You don't have the right to control the freedom of other people, just because you're a candidate.

Having a camera in your face is part of being a candidate.

Just because you hired someone to protect you doesn't mean the person you hired has the right to illegally detain others.

You're way off base.

All of you brainwashed neocons are just going bug fucking nuts to defend your side.

You are right that being a public figure means you need to expect a lot of attention especially from the press. That does not give the press the right to get overly aggressive, which is what was reported from the security guards; the eye-witnesses (public) and Miller himself. The reporter shoved a by-stander into a locker and only then was restrained.

Yeah, bullshit. This was unwarranted.

Private security guards cannot detain people.

This candidate is acting like a thug and you're on board because he's "your guy".

I do hope Miller gets elected...he's cool. Maybe they could not detain him, I don't know what the law is, the cops were called and it is certain to get figured out. The guy however did shove a by-stander and was being too agressive from "all" accounts but his own.

So if you are a security guard hired to protect the space around a public figure and some guy is not listening to warnings and in fact ends up shoving a by-stander who did not touch him; what would you do?

Why, I'd follow your example, ID.

I'd claim I had a linked source to back up my position, and I'd post a link to an irrelevant news article on JPP and wait to see if anyone called me on it.

Then, if anyone noticed, I'd edit my first post by changing the text and adding a more relevant link.

Then I'd lie and claim I didn't add a second link or change the wording.
