Trump changed the way the EPA regulates mining and other industrial runoff into rivers and streams. This allowed the dying coal industry to stop taking measures to prevent such runoff. Once clean pristine mountain streams have been turned into a sad disgusting cloudy mess. This has not saved the coal industry or any jobs. All it has done has been to make coal slightly more profitable at a time when it is dying out anyway because even allowing dirty coal mining techniques is not enough to save it. It eliminated jobs because preventing runoff is work that has to be done by somebody. The workers who once did that now lost work.
Eliminating this regulation favored the rich and hurt the poor.
Trump did it because those rich coal mine owners like Don Blankenship donated heavily to his campaign.
