FoxNews caught in another disgusting lie. But FoxNews don't give a sh!t

Joe Capitalist

Racism is a disease
The Marine Corps worked behind the scenes last month in an attempt to convinced Fox News to retract its false story claiming a Gold Star family was forced to pay $60,000 to ship the remains of a Marine killed in Afghanistan, according to emails obtained by Military.com.

A service spokesman notified the news network that it was pushing an incorrect story and accused it of using the grief of fallen Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee's family to draw in readers, the email exchanges, released through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request, show. Fox News eventually deleted the story with no correction, and it never reached out to the Gee family with an apology as the Marine Corps requested, the family said.

The Fox News story came from Republican Rep. Cory Mills, a freshman congressman from Florida, who claimed Gee's next of kin were strapped with the $60,000 charge after a meeting with the families of Abbey Gate bombing victims, a suicide attack where 13 service members were killed outside of the Kabul airport in 2021.

Gee's family never paid a dollar to transport her remains, and the Marine Corps let Fox News know -- in no uncertain terms -- that the July 25 story was false in a series of emails over the following days.

"This headline correction is still misleading and your story is still false," Maj. James Stenger, the lead spokesperson for the Marine Corps, wrote to Fox News in an email after the publication changed the headline and body of the story in an attempt to soften the accusation.

"Using the grief of a family member of a fallen Marine to score cheap clickbait points is disgusting," Stenger wrote

I never heard a damn thing about this, and I watch fox almost exclusively. I am a 25 year military veteran. THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN!!! Mills is a combat veteran himself and knows this wouldn't happen.

Well, I dont know anything about this but me not being a moron I do understand that they, The Modern Morons, tell the boldest of lies now.

Right-wing propaganda pushers like Fox News will say anything to impugn a Democrat.

In this case, I'm guessing they figured the stink of their latest lie would blow back on The Commander in Chief.

Conservatives are the embodiment of evil.

Fox News, being entertainment for cretins, isn't held to the standards of actual news cablecasting.

We have MSNBC for real news if we're interested. ;)

I see no link to any facts.....either that Fox News lied, that the Congressman lied or that the spokesperson for the Marines lied.......until the OP provides a link I will assume that only the OPoster lied.......after all, he is the only lib'rul involved......

It's obvious that Mills (and Fox) were trying to protect a grieving confused family.

On the other hand, Sadistic white libs are attacking the family of the soldier killed by Bribem, for fake political brownie points.

Like Trump deleting unpopular "Truths", Fox News deleted the story.

Rep. Cory Mills is a combat veteran of the 82nd Airborne and knows better than to stand on the body of a fallen American hero to make political points. This proves he's turned into a Trump scumbag. Fox News is just a business Infotainment network. They have no honor. Rep. Mills knows better but did it anyway. Shame on him.

Pentagon protested false Fox News report about fallen Marine, emails show
The network quietly removed the story based on false claims from a congressman, and says it has apologized to the Marine’s family. But questions remain.

The U.S. Marine Corps went up to the highest levels of Fox News last month to challenge a story that falsely claimed a fallen Marine’s family had to cover the cost of transporting her remains, emails obtained by The Washington Post show.

Fox quietly amended the digital story and then removed it from its website following more complaints from the Marines. It has not corrected the erroneous report or explained its reasons for removing the article in the month since it was published. News organizations typically alert readers to major changes in a published article for the sake of transparency.

Late Saturday, after The Post and other news organizations reported on the Marines’ objections to the story, the network said it had apologized to the family of Marine Sgt. Nicole L. Gee for its erroneous article.

Sgt. Gee, 23, was one of 13 U.S. service members killed in a suicide bombing at the Kabul airport in the frantic final days of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

Fox also said it had addressed the story “internally,” but did not explain what steps it has taken.

The Marines’ email communications with Fox were first reported by Military.com, which obtained the emails last week under a Freedom of Information Act request.

The July 25 FoxNews.com story relied on an account from freshman Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.), who stated that Sgt. Gee’s family had shouldered “a heavy financial burden,” paying $60,000 to retrieve her body from Afghanistan.

Nicole Gee, Marine killed in Kabul attack, described as a ‘light in this dark world’

“There was an explosion. And just like that, she’s gone.”

Friends and family of Nicole L. Gee say the 23-year-old Marine killed at the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, last week died doing what she loved – helping people.

Gee was one of 13 US service members killed in a terrorist attack outside Hamid Karzai International Airport on Thursday that left more than 170 other people dead. At least 20 US Marines were among the hundreds of people wounded.

Just six days earlier, Gee had posted a photo on Instagram, which was also posted on the Department of Defense’s social media pages, showing her holding an Afghan infant. Gee captioned the photo, “I love my job.”

The Marine Corps sergeant from Sacramento, California, posted another photo from the airport that week showing her in front of a plane beside a long line of people, captioned, “Escorting evacuees onto the bird.”

Notice it's not a Fox News link, dear.

Sergeant Nicole Gee, a native of Roseville, California, enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2017 and was later assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 24, where she provided maintenance on ground electronics transmission systems.

Sgt. Gee deployed to Afghanistan in support of the Afghanistan withdrawal. There, she served on a Female Engagement Team, to facilitate evacuation support for Afghan women and children.

Sgt. Nicole Gee, 23, was killed in a suicide attack along with 12 other service members. Less than a week prior to her death, Sgt. Gee made a social media post of her caring for an Afghan infant in which she remarked: “I love my job”.

During her Memorial service, Sgt. Harrison, a close friend of Sgt. Gee, remarked, “She lost her life so others may live and without a doubt, she died proud. Proud of who she was, proud of what she was doing and proud to be a United States Marine.”

Sgt. Gee’s actions in addition to the actions of Sgt. Rosario Pichardo, and that of the other servicewomen working in the screening of female evacuees saved, on estimation, over 124,000 lives in America’s largest airlift operation ever
