Fox host says Michael Vick should've been executed

Political commentator Tucker Carlson, filling in for Fox News host Sean Hannity Tuesday, told a news panel that he believes Michael Vick is not only undeserving of a second chance after being convicted on dog fighting charges, but that he deserves to die.

The panel had been discussing President Barack Obama's praise of the Philadelphia Eagles for giving Vick a second chance to start at quarterback. Mr. Obama has said that while he believes Vick's crimes are bad, it is important to give felons a second chance in a society that normally rejects them.

In response to Obama's praise of the Eagles, Carlson said:

"I'm a Christian, I've made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances. But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should've been executed for that. He wasn't, but the idea that the President of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs? Kind of beyond the pale."

People are making too much of this one. Clearly, the guy is a dog lover, and is speaking emotionally - I am fairly certain he is not advocating the death penalty for dog abusers.

He's just using a bit of hyperbole to make his point....

The government needs to round up all the dogs and ship them over seas. It's just to tempting to kill them. If their were no dogs in america then no one would kill them. Lets send them all to a country that likes to eat canine.

Does that plan include yourself, "HotDog"?

he may not be advocating the DP for dog abusers, but he is without a doubt advocating the DP for vick....unless he channeling watermark, which i don't think he is....

what makes you so sure its just hyperbole? he says "i think, personally..." sounds like he is taking ownership of that opinion

I saw the clip, and I'm pretty familiar w/ how he speaks & makes points. Maybe there is a small chance he's advocating that at face value, but I seriously doubt it.

fair enough, i didn't see the clip and am not that familiar with him...personally he annoys the crap out of me....

and, if as you say, he uses hyperbole as his usual shtick (i think you're saying that) then i can see you point....horrible hyperbole though

Don't make excuses for him,
He's a pinhead....that comment about Vick was about as stupid a thing to say as I can imagine....if his emotions make him talk like a god damn moron he shouldn't be on tv.....
