Former slave state Senator joins Trump

Jeff Sessions of Alabama is the first sitting U.S. senator to endorse Donald Trump.

Sessions, donning a red "Make America Great Again" hat, said that he was throwing his support behind this "movement" because, in his best estimation, "at this time in America's history, we need to make America great again!"

The timing of Session's endorsement is ironic. It comes as Trump did not condemn or disavow David Duke's endorsement.

For his part, Sessions has his own history of speaking positively about the KKK.
