The thread makes no sense. The Russian connections were first shown when the FBI was tapping Russian agents and diplomats. That is where Trump fits in. The Russians were talking to Trump's campaign staff. They followed those leads and Trump's staff was guilty of helping Russian hackers. They were in regular connection and provided them with campaign information.
We all remember what started it. Trump made a speech and asked Putin to find Hillary's emails. Russia started hacking the next day.
