The measure potentially delivers a blow to the company’s operations in the state. The special district, created in 1967 and known as the Reedy Creek Improvement District, exempts Disney from a host of regulations and certain taxes and fees related to emergency services and road maintenance. It saves Disney tens of millions of dollars a year, according to a person familiar with the company’s finances who studied the issue over a decade ago.

Performance politics. Ignorant people love it. This doesn't go into effect until late next year, which is, of course, plenty of time for the legislature to reverse course after Disney does a few Hail Marys. Just more meaningless gestures designed to score a few fund raising dollars. Republicans have no agenda.

What happen to big corp paying their fair share ?
 
I am not allowed to exempt my property from fees and regulations by saying “Well, I only use my own resources!”

When has that ever been a Republican position, except now? I’m all for corporations paying their share, but this is a political stunt.

Ronnie pisses off Disney too much and those "California corporations" might start thinking it ain't worth it and start dephasing their Disney World efforts, Disney leaves and Florida slides into the Gulf. Then of course Trump lite would then blame Biden

I was just reading that this opens up some serious questions about $1 billion in bonds. Most who voted for this don't even understand the complexities.

I haven't seen anyone crying about the many tax breaks given to corporations by states. It happens all the time. This is a stunt. It isn't about paying their fair share. In fact, they hold massive amounts of bond debt that would be transferred to the taxpayers. I guess our resident racist forgot about that part.

Jerry Brown signed a bill, SB 54, that makes California a "sanctuary state". It prohibits local and state agencies from cooperating with ICE regarding undocumented individuals who have committed misdemeanors.

And Brown did what ever he wanted...but u were OK with that

First off, Brown wasn't a right winger who continuously tell us they oppose State power, DeSantis is, and secondly, Brown didn't do it cause he was running for President and was pissed off cause Disney in his State embarrassed him publicly

he's a very popular governor. we are getting a lot of transplants above the usual amount because
we didn't destroy our businesses and kept kids in school over COVID

Plus Desantis set up monoclonal antibodies sites - I dont think any other state did that -
or if so not on the massive scale he did, until Biden cut off the supply to Fla

I imagine he's easily going to win re-election.
