Me too! My so had her son kicked off her insurance when he turned 23, but now she was able to put him on her insurance, since the new law increased the age of eligibility to 26.

Now he can actually go afford to go to the doctor. And, more importantly, he might be able to score me some killer prescription drugs. Vicodin rules! Faking back pain ain’t all that hard.

These are some of the best examples of how the changes are working in people's lives. I can rest assured now, that if for some reason we loss our current coverage, I will be able to get insurance to cover the medicine I take monthly for cancer prevention which is quite costly without insurance! as are my frequent visits to the doctors, three of them, surgeon, oncologist and women's doctor, for my high cholesterol which is caused by my Femara, they think, but I could just be THAT age now! he he 55 and going strong!

Most people I know are on thier own and have thier own insurance at 23. Even so, I am glad some parents can carry their kids longer, as there might be mitigating circumstances where they need to. But the bolded part is ammo for those who oppose health care. I have been part of a universal health care system all my life and can tell you first hand that the abuse of perscription drugs by patients and thier families led this system to make it so one has to "jump through various hoops" to receive thier meds. Not a good start to Obamacare, IMO.

Its a crap economy, and I suspect some or many 23 year olds can't get a job that has health insurance, or if they do its prohibitively expensive. If you're working for ten bucks an hour, and you have to pay massive insurance premiums on top of that, you' can't really make a living wage.

I'd rather have a publicly funded single payer system, which is cheaper by far than what we have. And, for the most part, just as good. Or just let every one buy into one of the government/public employee health care programs.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was hoping you weren't being serious. And you are right about the economy. It is not good I don't care how anyone tries to spin it. The top 1% still getting richer during these "tough" economic times (according to the report I saw this morning) doesn't make me want to feel sorry for them. That's why I indicated that there are sometimes mitigating circumstances applicable to older adults needing medical insurance assistance.

Most of the [male] kids that graduated last year here who didn't go on to college have found work in the oil and gas industry. The have to spend 2 weeks in Pennsylvania (or Searcy, AR or some other place) and then get to come back to God's country for a week (). These kids do receive health coverage from the company they work for. I'm proud of these kids who are willing to take work where they can find it. But I am not so blind that I don't see others who can't find work or who have to take min. wage or low-paying jobs that do not provide insurance. I am absolutely not against Obamacare. I do think it needs some tweaking but the spirit of what they tried to I stand behind.

Extending it past 23 is really mostly for graduate and professional students. Most insurance plans cover people until they're 25 right now anyway, if they're in college. Since being a graduate student is really a job in and of itself, IMHO the college should cover them, but that's just how things go.

Of course, most entry level jobs don't offer health insurance anyway.

I know there's problems with the healthcare here, but all the Dems did was throw gas on the fire. They had a chance to do something great, but instead gave us another big govt program.

It is amazing how we agree on the same things, but it how to fix and who to do the job is where we all get caught in the web.

Democrats had a chance to do something great, but they couldn't because they got roadblocks thrown up in front of them at every turn by status-quo loving Republicans beholden to Big Pharma.
