In a desperate bid to regain the lead in the GOP primary, (p)Rick Perry has announced his version of tax reform:

The Texas governor said in a speech Wednesday to the Western Republican Leadership Conference in Las Vegas that he would lay out details of a flat-tax plan that "starts with scrapping the three million words of the current tax code, and starting over with something much simpler: a flat tax."

Great opinion piece at CNN on how a flat tax would be good for the Country HERE

That piece is terrible. Any discussion of tax policy that doesn't talk about the amount of revenue it would generate isn't serious.

I also like that the piece mentions Forbes by name. He's a Perry advisor these days. If Forbes's plan were enacted back in 1996, a study showed he would have saved $1.9 billion in taxes over his lifetime. Naturally, that's a good thing for Steve Forbes and other wealthy people, but I'm not sure that's a good thing for the county.

more people getting to keep more of their money. how is that not a good thing?

When the government is running record deficits and schoolteachers are being laid off so millionaires can enjoy continued tax breaks, it's not a good thing.
