Speaking on CBS's Face the Nation, Powell said cases like Trayvon Martin's "blaze across the midnight sky" and are forgotten.

The first black chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and first black secretary of state, Powell says America has come a long way toward racial equality 50 years after Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.

Minorities have many more opportunities today.

Powell also called the Zimmerman verdict "questionable."

Unfortunately, his sense of history on matters such as the Zimmerman verdict has little basis in reality.

The OJ Simpson verdict is still with this country.

The Emmett Till verdict changed America.

Both are written in history.

I'm sure he would like to see the Zimmerman verdict just 'blaze across the sky' and fade away, but the ramifications of that verdict haven't even yet fully played out.
 
Why would we give Powell any credibility after what he lied to the world about? He should be one of the first neo-con to go to jail for treason.

thank you...it was a "tepid" response from him. He still is beholden to his Republican credentials, and not willing to eschew them totally. Oh, well.

Powell knows little to absolutely nothing about the black community. He's just trying to stay relevant .. while trying to wash the blood of his hands.

Anyone who knows the law, and I do, knew that Zimmerman acted in self defense because Trayvon was beating the crap out of Zimmer. Unfortunately for Trayvon, Zimmer was packing a legal 9mm piece, and that was that. I blame Zimmer for not coming right out and telling Trayvon, first that he was a community watch commander and second that he was legally armed, which he could have done from a distance, if Zimmer was afraid of Trayvon, and I believe that he was. It was an unfortunate array of circumstances, which although Zimmer acted like a stupid jackass, being a stupid jackass is not illegal, which I know that you understand. Sorry, I could not resist getting that in or should I say putting it in...LOL

However you see this is completely up to you. It's not my place to tell you to believe anything different.

But how you see it is not how black people see it, and the response that we have to this is not up to you .. you have nothing whatsoever to do with it.

I can never remember if we're still supposed to like/dislike Powell right now. He was SoS under Bush, but then he supported Obama, and...

Always good to hear from the general, though. Wish he had run for president in 1996. :cof1:

Except for Blacks, the entire World agrees with the verdict, but of course Blacks only see it the way they think it should be regardless of the facts.
