White House: No plan B on debt ceiling

Washington (CNN) - Obama administration officials declared Wednesday that there is no fallback plan if Congress fails to lift the nation's $14.3 trillion debt limit by August 2, and they warned that inaction could spark a series of catastrophic events.

"There really is no alternative to raising the debt limit," one senior administration official said at a briefing with reporters. "There is no plan that can preserve our credit worthiness."

A second senior administration official also pushed back on the claim by Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pennsylvania, that the administration is using "scare tactics" on the issue and asserted that a failure to raise the debt ceiling would be "disruptive" but not "catastrophic" to the economy.

Everyone with a brain knows the republicans will not allow the debt ceiling to lapse.

It would be the end of the republican party if they allowed it to just blow a huge hole in our economy.


Its empty threats and the republicans havre backed themselves into a corner and they have no way out but to raise the debt ceiling.

Their tea party faction will revolt when they do and they can look at a bunch of races where they will be taken down by a third party ticket.

For the eight years of Bush's administration we heard the cacophony from the left and their allies in the Lame Stream Press clamoring for tax increases and how a $400 billion deficit is too much. Then when they finally get the Congressional power they so desperately desire that they lie to get it, they do NOTHING to increase taxes, they do NOTHING to balance the budget and then, in their last year, refuse to even deal with and pass a budget.

If after all this anyone can think that Democrats are honest or that the Liberal Progressive agenda they support will lead to prosperity, the current administration should have removed all doubt.

But thanks to a Liberal educational establishment, they ensure that morons like Obama and Barney Franks will continue getting re-elected by dumbing down our kids and graduating them with fifth grade level math, reading and writing skills.
