A lot of media is claiming that Portugal is cancelling their F-35 contract because trump might have a kill switch on it. There was not a contract yet, so the contract has not been cancelled. It was almost a contract, but then their defense minister, Melo, said they would not under any circumstances buy the F-35... Sounds final right? No, there is about to be an election, so we will have to wait until after the election to find out what their real final decision is.
Canada is also talking about not going with the F-35, but again there will be an election, so we do not know. What we do know is that what used to be easy sales are now just possible sales.
If it is not America's F-35, it will probably be the French Dassault Rafale. There is a rumor that there is an agreement among many countries to all switch to the Rafale.
That would mean fewer jobs for Americans, and less mass production, so a higher price on the planes and parts American taxpayers pay for.
