Explaining the Portugal F-35 decision

Walt

Back To Reality
A lot of media is claiming that Portugal is cancelling their F-35 contract because trump might have a kill switch on it. There was not a contract yet, so the contract has not been cancelled. It was almost a contract, but then their defense minister, Melo, said they would not under any circumstances buy the F-35... Sounds final right? No, there is about to be an election, so we will have to wait until after the election to find out what their real final decision is.

Canada is also talking about not going with the F-35, but again there will be an election, so we do not know. What we do know is that what used to be easy sales are now just possible sales.

If it is not America's F-35, it will probably be the French Dassault Rafale. There is a rumor that there is an agreement among many countries to all switch to the Rafale.

That would mean fewer jobs for Americans, and less mass production, so a higher price on the planes and parts American taxpayers pay for.

Not only does the F-35 not do its jobs very well, but also it is much more expensive to operate and with a much lower mission eval rate than is remotely OK.

And it hates being in the rain.

One airframe to do it all was on par dumb as was the great leap forward in tech with the Ford Class carriers (a complete disaster) and the littoral boats....many of which have already been scrapped because they are shit at the mission....so shit that they are useless.

If you doubt me look at all the weapon systems that have been cancelled over the last ten years (or 20) because of some combination of they are too expensive or they dont work.

The NAVY never even built out the Littoral boat mods, which was the main thing that was supposed to make them great, because rather quickly it became clear that it was a dumb idea....exactly the same "1 frame to 2 do it all" idiocy that doomed the F-35.

The Littoral boats are being scrapped because they keep being non-op....they dont do much of anything.....and there is no way they survive 48 hours in combat.

OOPS!

We wont even get into the fact that for 20 years there has been a strong suspicion that aircraft carriers are obsolete....which is almost certainly true..... or the more recent theory that (Musk is one who says it) that manned aircraft are obsolete.

Nice Rarely Right Walter.

Your desperation is palpable.

The F-35, and the French Dassault Rafale are beginning to fill an interesting position, no one thought of before. So much was invested in them having battle management, that they have become mini-AWACS. They are beginning to control huge fleets of drones.

The reason we want Europeans using the F-35 to control their drone fleets is that they are way ahead of us on having drone fleets. American drones are too expensive to build a fleet of them. If you have $10k drones, it is easy to afford a fleet of a hundred of them. If the drones cost $50 million, you might as well send a regular fighter in.

All countries should dump alliances with the genocidal states of Israel and the USA.
Ditch the dollar. It's a shackle.
