Even in Tennessee

The opponents of gay marriage are mainly from an older generations that have a bratty entitlement sense of political power due to their demographic dominance. But that is coming to an end. The Republicans opposing gay marriage are a political handicap which will ensure more and more losses for their party. Pragmatic members of the GOP should be hoping the Supreme Court rules for gay marriage in Perry. Then they can quietly blame it on the court in speaking to the old morons and take the advantage away from the Democrats in appealing to younger voters. Of course, they will still want to shut up the Todd Akin's.

The Republican National Committee, as part of an internal examination of the party, released a report today exploring its failings among young voters, including opposition to same-sex marriage. “It was unmistakable in the focus groups that gay marriage was a reason many of these young voters disliked” the party, the report said.

Even in Tennessee, which banned gay marriage by constitutional amendment in 2006 with the support of 81 percent of voters, there are signs of change. Vanderbilt University released a poll May 12 showing 49 percent of those surveyed favored either same-sex marriage or civil unions. Among those under 30, support ran at 69 percent.

“The whole country is moving toward gay rights broadly,” said John Geer, chairman of political science at Vanderbilt, who oversees the poll. “Tennessee is part of that, not in the same place as Massachusetts but moving in the same direction.”

I realized how certain the reality if Gay Marriage is this morning when I saw on Face Book one of my very conservative friends posted a Pro-Gay Marriage, pro-Gay acceptance message.

It has become only be the far right religious evangelicals who oppose the gay lifestyle, the same owns who oppose women being in the workforce.

This is true.

It has become only be the far right religious evangelicals who oppose the gay lifestyle, the same owns who oppose women being in the workforce.

This is an over generalization.
