july 11 2023 A city in Illinois is expected to pay 140 mostly elderly black residents $25,000 each in reparations by the end of the year in what it is calling a 'test run for the whole country.'

In 2019, Evanston, a city of 75,000 people north of Chicago, committed to paying $10 million over the next 10 years in local reparations and it has started to deliver on that promise nearly four years later.

First approved in March of 2021, the program will benefit black residents if they, or their ancestors, lived in the city between 1919 and 1969 or if they can show they suffered housing discrimination due to the city's policies.

It comes as black communities across the U.S. have rallied to help compensate for the legacy of slavery and discrimination they believe has become entrenched within society.

All these govt give-aways to negroz are based on the assumption that black failure and poverty is due to some giant white conspiracy holding them down! Well - the conspiracy sure doesn't work in pro sports! Truth is blacks can't make it in fields that require brains because they are so mentally inferior.

1. Black-americans come in last in all standardized tests. Asian-americans do fine on all the tests so it's not due to cultural bias in the tests.

2. Africa is by far the poorest and most backward continent on the planet. All of black africa is now controlled by blacks and has been for decades so it's not due to racism.

3. No black has ever won a Science Nobel Prize unless you count one in 1979 for the semi-science of economics. They have won many nobels in non-brain fields like Peace and also in Literature so it is not due to racism.

4. Out of 1725 chess grandmasters in the world, only THREE are black.

5. 50 years of affirmative action special treatment and blacks have fallen even further behind. What does that tell you?

This sort of thing has been going on for years and SCOTUS has not done anything about it yet, nor did they do anything about the COVID martial laws.....good luck with that.
 
The committee decided to release $25,000 grants to additional recipients as soon as the cannabis tax funds become available. In all, 123 Evanstonians who applied qualified as ancestors. All those numbers were drawn from the ping-pong ball machine, and they’ll get reparations in that order.

So, whether aging ancestors get reparations in their lifetime depends, oddly, on how quickly locals buy cannabis.

The longer-term scope and success of Evanston’s reparations seemingly depend on how much Evanstonians are really willing to commit to the effort. Black Lives Matter signs proliferate throughout the city. But will residents of all races be willing to pay more taxes, shift budget priorities, or otherwise sacrifice in small or big ways to address harm done to Black people across generations? In cities less progressive than Evanston, even making statements and symbolic gestures is not easy. Evanston has that down. But since the legacy of slavery fundamentally shaped our country’s economy over centuries, making lasting repair likely comes down to cold, hard economics.

“The most difficult part is to convince people they must sacrifice some prospective [individual] well-being for what will be the collective well-being,” said Muwakkil. “The pandemic convinced a lot of people we can manufacture economic resources a lot more easily than we thought, and distribute them efficiently. Why do you hate the 9th and 10th Amendments? Do you think it's worth a "civil war" to overrun Evanston, IL over how they chose to spend their money?

They can get it past the Supreme Court by disguising it as corporate bail out money. Tell they are loans (PPE) and then 'wink, wink .. but they will be forgiven and you will never need to repay them'.


OR

Tell them they are Bailout money for bad mortgages the banks wrote, and instead then of giving that same amount of money to mortgage holders as a mortgage credit, to help them get their homes out from under water while the SAME amount of money still flows right thru to the banks to help with liquidity, you just cut out the home owner and say 'fuck you' as they default.

Imagine that. The same exact amount of money just handed to the big banks, instead handed to every citizen with a mortgage as a mortgage credit that had to be instantly paid to their bank or lost. The banking industry gets the exact same amount liquidity but the citizens, whose housing prices were fucked, get some help as the money flow thru.

Nope, only the Banks get help. Fuck the people. WHAT ABOUT HUNTER!!!

It depends on how the argument in the lawsuit would be framed.

Remember that the court can only rule on what's brought before them.

There is a chance congress may get involved also and pass some legislation to prevent this or more than likely, those that vote for it at the state or city level will be voted out of office.

I think the odds of any of these actually going through are slim.

Maybe two years ago it would have had a better chance but the times are a changing and people are getting tired of this stuff.

Doesn't matter what works for you.

The Supreme Court can't bring their own cases into court.

They can only rule on what others bring before them.

Correct but only from the cases brought before them.

So even if a reparations bill is passed it will probably be years before anyone sees any money as it works it's way through the court system.

Unless nobody sues that is.

I can see multiple ways the conservatives would rule to declare this unconstitutional but who knows, it's not like the Roberts Court hasn't jumped sides before.

Exactly on cases. So what's the problem?

A Federal reparations bill passed by Congress would continue forward even if any lawsuits bogged down in the justice system. Are you afraid your locality is going to pass a reparations bill?
